Uranus square Pluto

Hello -

On Monday, May 20, the skies bring us another of the string of Uranus-Pluto squares occurring through March 16, 2015. This is the third of seven total. These are big big big energies, full of archetypal resonances. This group might appreciate my writings on the subject, posted at the times of the first two transits. The posts are kind of long, but I figure any transit occurring 7 times over 3 years is worth the effort.

I call it "Uranus square Pluto - Rebel Yell":

Take care everyone,
Shawn

  • Some extra 'umph' to add to the Uranus-Pluto Square - Eris:

Here's a scenario to assist those who're not familiar with how Eris actually affects there behaviours. I've spent the past 2 months delving into the current Pluto-Uranus square, together with what Pluto's transit through Capricorn from April 2013 to March 2023 means, personally and collectively. Intuition's speaking here...and Eris has a significant part to play in my life, and yours.

So if Eris is the unconscious archetype of rejection, strife, and discord, then these 'features' manifest in the houses aspected. It's worth our taking note of which planets aspect Eris, and Pluto, here too. With Uranus in my natal 9th House of Exploration (inner and outer), Personal Philosophy, the Higher Mind and Faith, and in opposition to Eris in the 3rd House of Mental Processes and Communicating, then I've faced issues of balancing brilliant moments in thinking, and how I communicate these ideas (i.e. genuine 'ah-ha' moments in palaeo-research), with scattered, incongruent thinking and communicating. 'Rejecting Eris' has cost me dearly, professionally, personally. and spiritually.
My unconscious experiences throughout the current life-span, as Richard, of Eris, in combination with Pluto (in my natal 8th House Virgo, and now transiting 10th House Capricorn) and Uranus (now transiting the 3rd House Ares) have raised some vitally important Soul lessons. Becoming aware of how my sometimes discordant thought processes lead to incongruence in my communicating and behaviours, has led me toward a very humbling place - that's Pluto calling. Uranus correctly applied (and consulted - I'm using Active Imagination, ala Carl Jung/Depth Psychology, to begin the process of engaging the Uranus archetype, together with the rest in my 12th House...9 aspected planetary bodies in total...so any extra advice and words-of-wisdom would be welcome) can lead to a self-controlled expression of Uranian brilliance, without coming across as uncontrollable and manic!
Eris is also about rejection, remember. Note  which the houses Eris, Pluto and Uranus are aspecting. Also consider where Saturn, the Great Realist and Organizer  is located, both natally and in the current transit (he's currently in my 7th House Scorpio, together with my True North Node, so I intuit that I'm being tasked with scrutinizing my intimate relationships and partnerships). The Uranus-Pluto-Eris-Saturn pattern is here to stay for several years, and to remind us all of Pluto transiting Capricorn from April 2013 to March 2023, now is the time to break-down the old, inhibiting unconscious archetypal patterns we inherited from our ancestors...and 'individuate', as Carl Jung would say :)
    • Hi Richard!  Thanks for your replies.

I really like reading peoples' thoughts and experiences with Eris, because my personal approach is still to just observe and ponder it.  Since I've spent a lot of time with the outer planets Uranus, Neptune and Pluto, it's still very hard for me to grasp what really goes on with Eris because it's beyond Pluto, and Pluto is still so mysterious.  Because Eris is in a place in its orbit right now where it moves extremely slowly, virtually everyone alive right now has Eris in Aries.  To me, that makes Eris the first "global" planet.  If Uranus, Neptune and Pluto reflect generational trends and patterns, Eris would reflect something on the globe.  I have no idea how to 'get' it yet on any personal level.

For example, what you're describing of Uranus opposing Eris in your chart sounds more solely Uranian to me since Uranus is inherently outside-of-the-box, and has a lot to do with the communication styles you describe (scattered, incongruent thinking and communicating).  Sometimes it seems to me that a lot of what people attribute to Eris is really Uranus at work.  To my mind, Eris is still deeply, deeply behind the scenes.  [And I wonder, if we have named a planet Eris and have in that sense "invited" her in, how does that work in relation to the myth, which says she is not invited?  We can't change the myth to suit our desire... know what I mean?]

My advice with these big energies is to always check in on your chart and how you're doing with the more personal planets, especially Saturn.  Being really solidly connected to those planets seems to allow for 'better' handling (more creative?) of the outer ones since one has a more solid connection to oneself, the individuation process, and one's role in life.

Regarding the Uranus-Pluto square, the monster tornado in Oklahoma is quite daunting, isn't it!?

      Take care,
      Shawn

  • Hi Shawn,

I have a keen interest in 'depth' astrology, and have found the insights into myself - particularly Pluto oppositions symbolising  shadow projections - enlightening and transforming...and very humbling. Such is Pluto/Hades' way :)

Let's keep this thread up-n-moving as Pluto has begun transiting Capricorn, from April 2013 to March 2023. Interesting times are ahead, individually and collectively, as the Pluto/Hades archetype shakes, rattles, and rolls away old and no-longer-fit-for-purpose inner and outer structures.

    Richard.
