Commentary on Session TWO

It's 2AM and I've just caught up on all the reading and viewing.  I'm a bit brain-dead, and yet exhilarated at the same time.

Even though I completed three years of study in the DJA program at Pacifica, we did not study Campbell, and we were very light on the myth angle.  I've been reading a bit of von Franz on my own, and listening to material on audio.... but I could feel the gaping black hole of something missing.

This 6-week program feels like a "crash course" in mythology, which is deeply satisfying, and exactly what I needed.  I am especially grateful for the reading list.

The two assigned articles were excellent.  I can't say there was anything very new there (except for letting me know that Bleuler coined the term "Depth Psychology."  How did I get through three years of study without learning that?  And if there's any more to say, besides adding the year 1910, I'd be thrilled to hear it), but both were an excellent overview, and laid a solid foundation for what I anticipate is coming.

I loved this phrase:  "metaphors are the connective tissue of the psyche."

I'm looking forward to tomorrow, after I get some sleep.

-Vicky Jo, now caught up

    • Okay!  That. Was. Awesome.

So now I want to check in about copyright and distribution.  Would it flatter you if I were to share that document with my Pacifica cohort?  Or would you be annoyed that I shared it around without permission?

Likewise with the assigned readings.  Tell the world, or restrict my enthusiasm to the class?

I'd like to be appropriately sensitive.

      Thanks again,
      -Vicky Jo :-)

    • Oh my!  An embarrassment of riches.  Just printed it out so I can really take it in.  (One of my big regrets going through the program I did was that I never got to experience the teaching of Joe Coppin, fyi.)

      -Vicky Jo  :-)
