THE CRONE - my movie

THE CRONE

This movie is the story of a woman's exploration of her purpose for the latter part of life. The first scene is an introduction, a poem about the Crone Goddess, Hecate, followed by a letter to the goddess relating her story to life today.

  • Jane, I loved your movie!  What a great integration of myth, history, personal anecdotes, and current events.  And so much wisdom.  And in every segment you look beautiful!  Lovely to see you again!  :)

  • Jane!  Hello!  We have met before - was it with Kay Adams or with Dr. CPE?  Watching your movie now.  Great stuff!  Thank you for sharing!

    • HI, Joanne! I made three trips to Loveland,Co. for workshops with Dr. E. Two were about the Night Sea Journey.I was too late to register for this September's workshop, however, it is just as well because I want to attend a workshop on Digital Storytelling. Making the movie for the Assisi Creativity Class has opened up a whole new interest for me.  I am also loving the idea of this course. And, than you for watching the movie.

    • It WAS with Dr. E!  After watching your movie right through, I knew that was it.  I'm heading back to Loveland in September.   I'm sorry I won't see you there.  But so glad our paths converged again here!.  You're a master storyteller.  Keep up the good work!

  • Great exploration of the crone archetype!

Marion Woodman wrote about the crone in her book Dancing in the Flames: The Dark Goddess in the Transformation of Consciousness. I just began reading it again. It's so rich and full of wisdom.

    • Thank you, Maria. I will get the book.

      Best wishes,

      Jane

  • Great! Thanks so much for posting this.

    • Thank you!

  • Hi Jane,

Thank you for the link to the movie that I just realized with was YOURS! WONDERFULL, CONGRATULATIONS FOR IT I will watch it carefully. This year in the International Goddess Conference in Glastonbury the theme was THE CRONE. Amazing testimonials, dance, rituals, songs, poetry and so on. As I love poetry, I share this 2 with you.

    Blessings,

    Warning

When I am an old woman I shall wear purple

With a red hat which doesn't go, and doesn't suit me.
And I shall spend my pension on brandy and summer gloves
And satin sandals, and say we've no money for butter.
I shall sit down on the pavement when I'm tired
And gobble up samples in shops and press alarm bells
And run my stick along the public railings
And make up for the sobriety of my youth.
I shall go out in my slippers in the rain
And pick flowers in other people's gardens
    And learn to spit.

You can wear terrible shirts and grow more fat
And eat three pounds of sausages at a go
Or only bread and pickle for a week
And hoard pens and pencils and beermats and things in boxes.

But now we must have clothes that keep us dry
And pay our rent and not swear in the street
And set a good example for the children.
We must have friends to dinner and read the papers.

But maybe I ought to practice a little now?
So people who know me are not too shocked and surprised
When suddenly I am old, and start to wear purple.

Extract form "East Coker,",*The Four Quartets" of T. S. Elliot

As we grow older The world becomes stranger, the pattern more complicated
Of dead and living. Not the intense moment
Isolated, with no before and after,
But a lifetime burning in every moment
And not the lifetime of one man only
But of old stones that cannot be deciphered.
There is a time for the evening under starlight,
A time for the evening under lamplight
(The evening with the photograph album).
Love is most nearly itself When here and now cease to matter.
Old men ought to be explorers
Here and there does not matter
We must be still and still moving
    Into another intensity
For a further union, a deeper communion...
In my end is my beginning."
    • Vera, how amazing that the crone was the theme of this year's conference. An example of synchronicity! Thank you for including the poems. That was dear of you to be so thoughful.

      My best wishes,

      Jane
