Welcome Jeannie,
I appreciate your mention of the mystical experience. Sadly my religious tradition (Christian) has largely lost its rich history of mysticism. I have found depth psychology trying to approach in its own way the experiences and understandings of mystical experience and the mystic way of life begun so long ago. Even Jung stated that if religion still had its numinous power, depth psychology would not be needed.
