I am not at all versed in Jung or psychology. I am an herbalist and gardener in Ireland. But, if one were to overlay a picture of my life with a template of Depth Psychology, It would fit perfectly. I have listened to the writers interviewed on your podcast and it's the experiences and perspectives that speak so deeply to my own experiences and perspective. I have no degree of any kind, but, the way I interpret my life is in the language and expressions you and your guests use and I very much want to read and participate in your book club.

Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?

No

  • Hi Mary Kate. Greetings, and (a somewhat belated) welcome to the online depth psychology community. I'm glad you've joined us.

As you may know, we currently have nearly 1600 members from all over the world. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life: gardeners (just like you--AND by the way, I think gardeners are some of the best depth psychology practitioners I know!) writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

Also you may want to join the online book club. In September, we're featuring "Out of the Shadows: A Story of Toni Wolff and Emma Jung" with Eliza... October will bring us the only book of poetry in the 2012 lineup: "Telling the Difference" with Jungian Paul Watsky. Since the Book Club is all done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule--and you can join the discussion even if you don't have the book.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link---- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community. ~Bonnie Bright, Founder
