I have stated that facticity is ... (to partially appropriate from a famous U. S. profession football coach) ...not everything thing, it is the ONLY THING.

Issue

Given that the human male primate, Joseph Campbell is a scholar of renown, what facts can be derived from the above clip?

If it is fact, and let us assume it is, it happened after UNIVAC predicted an Eisenhower landside victory. If it is fact, when and where did it happen? Joseph Campbell relates how the machine (or should I state THE MACHINE) processed the input and after some time outputted (and a voice comes forth and the voice says now there is...).

Issues

The output in the form of an audio response is problematic. Was it some human recorded voice or something like the voice of the TMI Stephen Hawking utilizes? The machine would have had to have been programmed to output some kind of audio file (filed somewhere in its memory capacity). If the machine were able to output an audio response without the mechanical physical apparatus necessary I would conclude that this machine is GOD in the colloquialism of now and the Machine performed a  miracle. Since the output was not some hardcopy printout can it be purposed that the input was other than keyboard strokes or punch card?

Issue

Now there is... 

The output is existential truth.

Now there is, or there is now or now is are all equivalent and they are statements of truth that any human primate studying and practicing the philosophy of Zen is cognizant of.

If there is no god, then in whom do we trust?

The True First World War was the European Invasion (... colonization, appropriation, theft) perpetrated on non Europeans.

I stated in a previous blog post that FACTICITY IS PARAMOUNT in regard to Existential Philosophy. Existentialism is in agreement with C. G. Jung's writings and conclusions concerning the fundamental importance of INDIVIDUATION. The process of Individuation leads to the singularity of personality (exclusivity... no one else can be me, as no one else can be you) which is Jean Paul Sartre's "being for itself". Jean Paul Sartre's pronouncement that hell is other people is fact if you accept the high degree of probability that there is no god or that there is no GOD.

I was almost six years old when the educational conditioning commenced. Universal Roman Catholic Church indoctrination was attempted throughout my primary and secondary education by negative reinforcement... namely physical pain. Joseph Campbell relates how pervasive and intense this indoctrination was for him when he states that someone who is not brought up in the catholic faith would have difficulty relating to its impact. I have no knowledge of what he experienced or the context of the local physical environment in which his early education took place except to state that I presume it was more affluent that the physical environment of my early education. My undergraduate education occurred in Quebec where the provincial educational system was catholic and others... (mostly Jews and Protestants at the time) were educated in a separate education system. It might be an exaggeration to categorize the locality of my early existence as a ghetto and it might be an insult to those humans who factually survived ghetto existence but I am confident in stating that it was lower middle class, at best. (It is the same locality where Leonard Cohen experienced his early existence ten to fifteen years before me... St. Urban and Pine.) I often wonder what Joseph Campbell felt about the infallibility of the pope? At six, seven, eight, years old what does one understand of god and infallibility? I can tell you what a six, seven or eight years understands...: being hit. When I attended elementary school, not only the principal but teachers applied corporal punishment frequently.

It was when I experienced University Education that I realized the beauty of true education. Whereas I might have been aware of Noam Chomsky before entering graduate school, it was in graduate school that I came to appreciate the genius of this Human. 

I consider him to be the greatest living scientist on this pathetic planet x. In regards to Humans and Humanity his contributions far out cede those of Einstein, Oppenheimer or Teller.

I consider C. G. Jung to be a Humanistic Genius of greater significant status than Leonardo Da Vinci or Michelangelo Buonarroti. This is not a just comparison. Jung appears in Human Historicity at a later period in Human Psychology Evolution.

What intrigues me the most concerning Jung is two things.

1. Why did he title his work the Liber Norus... The Red Book?

2. Why did he choose to publish it posthumous?

According to Jung's own theory of Human Psychology, the three components of Psyche; namely, Personal Consciousness, Personal Sub Consciousness and Universal Unconscious are the causes of the titling of this work and the fact that it was published after his death.

Dear Sir,

With sincere respect, but Artificial Intelligence is a misnomer. There is Chaos and Intelligence. I am in agreement with a NASA scientist who recently stated that Humans would be more progressively (in an evolutionary intelligent sense) advanced if we assigned more decision making task to our newly created Intelligent Being.

On a personal note, I think you watched The Terminator one time too often.

Preamble

I am firmly committed to the philosophy of Existentialism and I believe that Carl Jung contributed significantly to: A - Identifying the nature at the soul of existential philosophy; namely the inescapability of choice (J. P. Sartre "Humans are condemned to be free..." by concluding that individuation is the function and direction of human personal psychology, and B - extending the realm of the psychological by the emphasis on the notion of archetype.

Ramble

In my first blog post, I related that I am the survivor of a failed suicide. I would content that for any existentialist: facticity is paramount. Martin Heidegger wrote Being and Time, Jean Paul wrote Being and Nothingness, and the logical next consideration should be Human Primate Being and Death.

As I age and this biological machine that I co inhabit with my consciousness breaks down, two phrases come to mind... No Country for Old Men and Old Age is Not For Sissies.

I am stating a fact when I state that most of my life is spent. It is facticity. My past has no potential in regard to redo or alter. It is being in itself and it is lost to the cosmological arrow of time or, more reductionist... entropy. However, personal reflection is what make me... me. As any human primate's personal reflection is what makes them... them. I have personal reflection in excess of sixty years and I am expressing myself... in my TIME and from my singularity of human consciousness.

I intend to apologize to any student who I may have insulted or have been disrespectful to. I intend to expose the hypocrisy and violence against young people perpetrated by the catholic church during my primary school education (1952 - 1960).

I believe I know things but I state I do not understand very much. I grow old... i grow old... should i ...  The following is a pictographic tribute to all the football personalities who have contributed to causing me to be who and whatever I am. I respect all these men. Some are still alive and some have passed to the SPIRIT REALM (whatever that might be, if it exists at all). I am inspired by Jim Thorpe and Paul Robeson. In my last blog post I stated that the most superior human primate that I know of is PAUL ROBESON. He was a pacifist, a socialist and an american football hero.

It is difficult for me to express how much this human being means to me. Ralph Goldson was instrumental in my educational development. He secured, for me, an athletic scholarship at Youngstown State University. I had limited personal interaction with this man but what I remember most was his warm honest smile.

Jim Conroy, Jim Cain and Bob O'Billovich are all coaches I respected and admired while playing for the University of Ottawa (1970- 73). The Internet provided me with the information that Jim Conroy has died. If there is an after (biological death) existence, he is there. I believe that the only thing that is inclusive and universal regarding spirituality is ANCESTOR Respect or Worship. I apply this approach to spirituality to all of the Human Species... whatever that might be...

If I were to state periods of my past existence that have impacted on me significantly, I would state that my two years playing football at YSU was the most important. I state this because this period introduced me to AFRO AMERICAN CULTURE. What I experience and know about current and recent U. S. culture has been extracted (psychologically assimilated and accommodated) from U. S. media feeds.

I am a Jungian because of what I relate to regarding his expressed thought and because I am challenged (competitive) by paradoxes (antimonies) and ambiguities that I experience with his expressed thought (a sub set of his Personal Consciousness) through my interaction with the medium of Popular Culture and the medium of literature. Of significant personal interest is his Artistic Expressions and the issue as to whether he experienced psychosis or approached psychosis, given: I have experienced three psychotic episodes and that I express myself with graphic art. I believe I paint as Jung painted. However, my expressions are those of a being influenced by agnosticism and existentialism; whereas, what I observe viewing his art reflects christian indoctrination.

Honesty Truth Proof 

Truth and Proof are TRANSPARENT.

Honest is TRANSLUCENT. It can only attempt to be TRANSPARENT or OPAQUE.

The TOTALITY of my personal consciousness cannot be related to an other human primate. What others perceive as the human primate animal that I am - I can only deal with as a relation.

In a previous blog post, I related that I read (I question if this is the correct word to use in this context; study might be better... but what I am expressing is that I view print on a paper page...) math and philosophy and I use spoken word Productions for literature like Shakespeare, Homer and The Communist Manifesto. I have recently downloaded podcasts from the BBC Series (In Our Times) which deals with academic issues, particularly Mathematics, Science and Philosophy.

A podcast on the topic of Evolutionary Psychology is of importance in regard to Jungian  Existentialism. The contention that we are human primates with a primitive psychology living in technological modern culture, if not true, is worthy of analysis. In the same podcast, (paraphrasing) it is stated that through most of our psychological evolution as a species (100 000 to 10 000 ago) only a relatively few male members of a sub collective (tribe, village) would sexually possess females. This was achieved in the view of other members and combative/sexual behaviour and its consequences inflicted on other biological organisms of the same species were as much the spectacle of the time as they are now.

As an existentialist, facticity is paramount. I have included the above photos as a case in point. I played football for Youngstown State University in the late sixties. We were the Penguins and they were somebody else. I included a photo of Roger Staubach because I play one football game against him while at YSU. The previous is facticity. It is an honest reflection for me, backed by Truth established by Proof. If I state that I am the Penguin far top row right column and my best friend is Mike Lorion bottom row third column, am I being honest and is it the Truth and can I Prove it?

My existential analysis of the above statement is uncertain and that is the Truth. I state that Mike Lorion is my best friend and the truth is that I do not know if he is alive or dead? I have not had any interaction with this male human primate for over thirty years. But he is my Patroclus and always will be and however honest and truthful I might be, I could never prove it to any other human primate.

I respect the game of football. It allowed me to obtain academic degrees and it has provided me with a connection to a human primate who I consider to be the greatest human primate that ever lived.

He is known by the name Paul Robeson but, to me, he is too big for that label. Especially the last name, because it refers to the Scottish clan that owed his ancestors as slaves. This human primate caused other young male human primates to cease firing guns at each other in order to hear him sing (the Spanish Civil War). This human primate was an All American Football Player only to be later the most famous individual on the only ten man All American Football Team. (During the McCarthy era he was "whited out" from a team photo taken the year he was acclaimed.) This human primate was recognized world wide as a pacific and a socialist and if the human species has any value whatsoever it is expressed in the spirit and psyche of this human male primate. He is one of the few male primates that causes me to feel less ashamed of being male.

There are many aspects of the expressions attributed to C. Jung that I experience as meaningful and meet the criterion of a high degree of facticity. However, there is a major conceptual point that I consider to be an issue. The conception of the human primate as a being with consciousness of its being is important but it lacks any relevance if that consciousness of being cannot be expressed to an other being, for how else can it even be an issue of analysis.

Unconscious: a topographical term for the unknown process of the psyche. The unconscious is unconscious only to the ego--we don't know if it is actually that way.

1. Personal (subjective) unconscious: the layer containing subliminal impressions and repressed contents. Filled only with personal life-experiences. Includes the shadow and the inferior function.

2. Collective (impersonal, transpersonal, objective) unconscious: an immensely old psyche at the basis of ours, filled with nonpersonal, species-wide, inherited, and permanently unconscious complexes called archetypes and with instincts. Nature doesn't build from scratch each time (see Koestler). Energy in solid forms from old, like coal mines, but that pours out into active images. The psyche's equivalent of those (living!) remnants of previous evolutionary stages we carry in our bodies (going all the way back to the earliest organic forms) and so a potential system of adapted functioning. It's the biological, prehistoric, and unconscious development in archaic man. (Just as human bodies have two eyes, our brains have features in common.) At bottom this psychoid layer fuses with physical processes and (includes) the sympathetic nervous system, which experiences from within as opposed to the cerebrospinal system, which senses outer things and maintains the ego. In fact, Jung thought the sympathetic system a deeper, wider, and more embracing psyche than the cerebrum's cortical fields and less exposed to the endocrine system. The highest differentiation of the collective unconscious is the ego, a relatively new combination of ancient elements.

Analysis

Collective Unconscious

From the existential perspective this expression is a contradiction. The collective, or any (sub collective set), of human primates cannot be in a state of unconscious absolutism (unless one is willing to ascribe Jung's Collective Unconscious as analogous to Schopenhauer's notion of Will) because this implies communication between the interior (exclusive) nature of the personal with another interior (exclusive) agent without a medium...  (not considering the para psychological). Jean Paul Sartre formulates existence as follows:

Every instance of Human Primate existence is the relation of the in-itself, the for-itself and the Other. The Human Primate is a being which cannot escape the exclusive nature of the for it-self

nor can the human being escape the inclusion imposed by family, community... i.e., Human Primate Sub Collectives.

The Exclusion Inclusion duality underlies not only human primate existence but biological existence.

This is a psychological portrait of me...

I am interested in Mary Shelley for many reasons. I started listening to spoken word presentations as a means of meditation in the early eighties. I listened primarily to T. S. Elliot and Shakespeare. From that time onward, I often preferred to listen to these presentation while driving a vehicle. In my mid fifties I would fall asleep wearing headphones listening to Homer's Odyssey, Crime and Punishment, the Communist Manifesto... I have a list of favourites that I repeat. (hmmm... How would this effect my sub conscious?)

From the psychological perspective, it is most interesting in providing a female perception. I suggest the book is about Percy Bysshe Shelley. Victor is the best of Percy Bysshe and the creature is Percy Bysshe's shadow. Percy's first wife who he abandoned to run away with sixteen year old Mary committed suicide and Mary's younger sister committed suicide possibly, if not probably, because of unrequited love for Percy. I suggest the novel is so dark because of the stress Mary must have suffered living with a husband who was
involved in sex with her sister, and had the propensity to just abruptly abandon a relationship. Mary was a progressive woman but she was a Human female primate.

Topic: The Problem with Psychiatry

My problem with psychiatry as a medical discipline concerns human primate interaction.

A human being to human being interaction.

What makes a being human is not an arm or a leg or the brain. This is not to deny that the human nervous system is the vehicle for Being in the instant of present. But that instant - (for discussion purposes... determine a minute as our now time (t) interval) - is the being of an observed, documented... factuated being of some biological span of t (t= years). In my case, a span of seventy years of human biological existence. Reflections of my past are available to the me of the now, or at the least, important aspects of it are readily available to consciousness.

In my first blog post, I related how I was prescription medication free from my early twenties to my mid-sixties. My assumption is that a psychiatrist dealing with a failed suicide concludes... that concoction of drugs is not working... what to now?

I lived "One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest". I am not denying I was, to quote Polonius in Hamlet..."he is far gone Madame..."; but I was misdiagnosed as being schizophrenic. The evil nurse was my psychiatrist who threatened me with confinement in the provincial maximum security psychiatric institution. I hold nothing against this man for threatening me with confinement in that institution because I was capable of extreme violence. I was an experienced football player. I played first team linebacker at Youngstown State University in the turbulent years of 1968 - 69. The student murders by some military faction at Kent State University occurred the spring of my sophomore year. The violent game of American football was more violent then... many concussions where simply passed off as "getting your bell rung". There was no doubt I was capable of violence. My point is that I was misdiagnosed. If this had been a doctor who had mistreated a cancer patient, the patient could claim negligence and liability: was that opportunity applicable to my case? A valid ethical position is that the doctor was erring on the side of the utilitarian principle... this individual many harm others and put their safety and liberties at risk so better to confine him and forego his liberty.

At the time I decided I had rather be dead than experience existence in a chemical straightjacket.

I presume I existed with this disorder without psychiatric intervention because of a very special human primate. My first wife was always calm, loving, tolerant and supportive. She died after battling ovarian cancer for four years.

A second presumption is that I am an introvert. I have labelled myself as an extreme introvert.

The third presumption is my primary mean of support (i.e., job, vocation) was that of a secondary school teacher. The personality traits associated with my disorder interacted effectively with the experiences of the extremes of adolescent behaviour. If the kids were learning and having fun and the parents knew this... my job was secure. I did not have much interaction with peers so the extremes of my personality were not evident to most. An interesting contingency is that in the Masters of Education degree that I was granted, I concentrated on philosophy and behavioural disorders. Ironic, a teacher with a major metal illness teaching adolescents with behavioural disorders. It sounds like a receipt for disaster. As a secondary school teacher I assumed many personae and I was passionate about all of them. I was the computer scientist, the physicist, the biologist, the athletic, the artist... 

Topic: The Assimilation / Accommodation Model of Scientific Epistemology

The point I would like to assert is best made with a specific example. Einstein's cosmological formulations although conceptually considerably different from the formulations of Newton simply subsumed (accommodated) Newton's formulations, verified them and exposed their limitations and deficiencies.

Topic: A Turing Test

In relation to the point made above and in reference to the example given; the human brain (human intelligence) is Einstein's formulations and the Turing machine (virtual intelligence) is the formulations of Newton. The point I am making here is that the intelligences are comparable and both are necessary. As an educator, I was involved with other educators. We considered how far and with what scenarios, we ought to involved students with value judgement types of lessons and activities. The four people in a boat that only supports three scenario is an example. The nature of the solution to the problem may involve more complexity than binary conceptions and considerations, but the solution with be binary: one or the other will die. Existence is binary. One exists and is conscious of it, or one does not.

The rhetorical baggage of expressions...  

As a student of philosophy I have knowledge of communism. The Statlism of Russia and the cultural revolution of Mao Zedong have little to do with a philosophical conception of communism. Both are mostly about male competition and aggression spiced with an overdose of 1984 spying.  

To the Point:

There is no right or wrong answer but under Penalty of Death you must answer one or the other.

Are you a communist? OR Are you an imperialist?

What would be the tally for:

      World

      U.S.A.

      China 

      Russia

      Canada

      every other existing sub-collective of human primates called Nations.

I do not adhere to anything that other human primates consider to be superior to humanity and human intelligence. I am frustrated with the fear mongering by a human primate who is recognized as intelligent. It is ironic that Stephen Hawkins, a being who makes use of Turing based technology more than most, states that we must fear our creation. I would ask him... What do the machines do after the elimination of all human primates? Do they conclude that dogs were allies of humans so lets turn on them next. Would their intent be to eliminate all biology on the planet? If I am wrong, please correct me: this is nonsensical. I agree with a NASA scientist who recently stated that we would substantially benefit by allowing more decision control to our beautiful logical creations.

We are that organism. (Albeit we have only taken a "small step'.)

Yet, with all the billions of years of biological effort (aided, of course, by contingency) to allow us, the human primate to be at a pinnacle of Biology; in my life time, I have experienced the Cuban Missile Crises, the height of the Cold War and now Climate Change - all of which threaten us individually, as sub-collectives and as a collective species.

How can we be so favoured and smart and so cruel and stupid at the same time?

Because we are animals and like most higher animals we Desire and Fear. Joseph Campbell make note of this as the existential reality that we must deal with. In any individual conscious span of biological life, existential realities of death, disease, injury are inevitably experienced. Intelligence is the mechanism that has allowed us to far exceed the desires of any other organism on the planet; however, intelligence does not appear to be sufficient in overcoming fear.

All fear can reduce to a word - Death.

If we did not die, existence would be a video game and we would always repeat until we got it right and moved on to the next scenario.

I am drawn to paradoxes.

The paradox I am most interested in is..."Freedom of Religion"!

My issue is... I affirm that religion, for the most part, causes human primates to be in a state of conscious attachment to dogma and superstition that causes other human primates to make pronouncements that simply can not be answered with a simple True or False.  (Pope Francis remarked something about All Dogs Go To Heaven and there is theistic controversy over this statement; when, in fact, he can not answer True or False to this question anymore than you or me. It is a nonsensical issue.)

I want to confront others who refer to me as a catholic. In a video presentation by Joseph Campbell he relates how someone not brought up in the catholic faith could not understand the significance of its influence. He goes on to relate how difficulty it was for him to lose his faith. I lost my faith at seven years old because it all appeared to be total nonsense to me.

I experience bipolar one disorder.

My first institutional psycharistic intervention occurred in my early twenties. My second occurred a few years later. A major depression was experienced following this second intervention and I attempted suicide by hanging only to gain consciousness on a basement concrete floor with a gash on my head. Another admission to a psycharistic ward where I was taken off all medication and released.

I have existed with this disorder, and I was functional for thirty years teaching secondary school in Canada, specifically in Quebec and Ontario.

I have been an athlete all my life.

I gained entrance to university by securing a football scholarship to Youngstown State University in 1968. In my early fifties I climbed Kilimanjaro and in my early sixties I was regularly bench pressing 300 lbs.

I have been an artist all my life.

Leading up to my third and most recent psycharistic intervention I created some, what I feel are radical, "video collages" expressing my opinions and frustration with "this"... existence. I uploaded these rants and proclamations to YouTube and I have tried to engage dialogue regarding what I am trying to communicate regarding archetypes.

I don't mean to insult anybody but I am attempting to portray certain archetypes in a current historical context.

I have heard that Jung was never able to disassociated himself from the European / Christian culture he was conditioned within.

I daily try to disassociate myself from nationalistic, ethnic and religious tensions and conflicts. Every day I dispel every theistic conscious awareness as nonsense.

I am a reductionist.

In reference to Jungian duality... There is intelligence and there is chaos. 

Atheism is an absolute so I cannot accept it.

As an agnostic I assign minimum probability that any personal existence follows death but, for me, I choose to seek spirituality in the inclusive nature of human historical ancestry and if there is minimal probability of anything following death better to be welcomed into the arms of loving past ancestors than to be judged by anybody.
