"Hi Barry,Thanks for your insightful reply. I suspected that was part of the reason for my friend's reaction. However, he is not educated in a Western style and remains quite close to his roots having only recently emigrated. I felt his reaction was…"

"Thanks Barry for sharing the essay by Ventura. It is full of history and connections relating to the blues and voodoo and Catholicism previously unknown to me. It brought back to my mind an event with a friend from the Congo. He was a new arrival to…"

"Really enjoyed Robin Trower video. Thanks for your post. I am in a wheelchair but it certainly got my upper body moving and blocked out the pain.(Physical and mental.) Is this the shamanic connection ?
I read Mark's book and enjoyed it very much."

  • Welcome Muriel,

Glad you found and decided to join the Alliance. Your focus on the end-of-life issues resonates especially with me for just recently I've gotten "serious" about my own death with making plans for the eventuality. It has made me appreciate what life I have left even more. I think that is one gift of depth psychology - it offers meaning and an ongoing mystery to life. Again, welcome. I look forward to your posts.

  • Hi Muriel. A special welcome to the online depth community.I'm so glad you've found us--especially during what seems it may be a difficult time for you.

This community is a wonderful group of likeminded people who are deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. One thing that I really like about it personally is that, while there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, business people, etc--so there is much knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, I hope you'll find opportunities to engage. You may want to consider joining the online book club if you haven’t already—There's a new author each month, and you can start anytime and participate at whatever level you wish. You may be particularly interested in the Feb Book Club with  Jungian Analyst Erel Shalit who has written a book called "The Cycle of Life.' I just completed an interview with Dr. Shalit which will be posted in the next couple of days and he truly seems connected to this theme.

Meanwhile, if you'd like detailed help getting started, personalizing your profile photo, and navigating the site, please use the following link-- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site --and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all. ~Bonnie Bright, Founder
