Calling those who live east of the Mississippi and south of the Mason-Dixon. I love California, Chicago, New York and New England, but need to connect with others in the South who are interested in exploring Jungian/Archetypal theories and practice.

  • Hi Jeanne - yes, we, too, are ready to move this conference forward.  I can get in gear to help plan it after the holidays.  Your workshop sounds great.

  • Okay, Ed, I am ready to make the Jung in the South conference happen!!! What was your wife's take on the retreat center in Nashville? I am currently creating a  workshop/retreat proposal based on the Goddess research I did as an OPUS award recepient entitled: Dancing with the Goddess. So, I am on a roll. Let's continue to move forward with this idea you have been nurturing!

    Happy Holidays to all~

    Jeanne

  • Collaboration. Its something I believe in so I'm coming to the group with a question. In looking at the conference to come I've been wondering if we might give each Jungian Institute/Friends of Jung group in the South a spot to have one of its members come and present. This might allow a sense of unity across the region and help smaller groups announce their presence. The keynoters would be folks well known in the discipline (defined as published authors, list of past presentations, etc.). What do you think? Please feel free to be both a supporter and a "devil's advocate" so that we can explore what shadow may be present in the idea as well.

Also, please take note of the discussion "Potential JIS Conference Subjects" and add your interests to the list. Such a list will aid in inviting presenters and keynoters.

    Thanks and Happy Thanksgiving.

    Ed

  • Congratulations Sara!!!!!!

One thought. As you get closer to designing your own courses, there are those in the Alliance who might help in that they either have taught courses or taken courses or both and could add focus and bibliographies to your interests.

    Again, CONGRATS!!!!

  • I know I've been rather inactive for quite some time, but I'm happy to say that I'm going to be moving even farther south to Carrollton, GA. After having to miss my first interview in March due to some unforeseen circumstances, I was able to get another interview for the University of West Georgia's MA in Psychology program in October. I received my acceptance letter less than a week after the interview, and I absolutely cannot wait to get started since UWG allows its grad students to pretty much design their own curriculum and offer lots of independent study classes so students can emphasize and learn more about what interests them. I definitely foresee myself taking lots and lots of Jung related classes and independent studies there!
  • Welcome Lee from North Carolina.
  • Welcome Dan.

Folks, Dan is a songwriter so check out his website. We enjoyed his talents at the recent Journey Conference.

  • Welcome Emmi!!!
  • Thanks, Ginger.  It was such a pleasure to meet you and to get to reconnect with Wade.  I'm glad the workshop was a good experience and that it seemed organized  - I try to cram in a lot of information in a short time and always hope it's not an overload!
  • Adele,  thanks for the info on ordering a CD of Dan's.  I had the thought this morning that I wanted to get one and have just emailed him.

And, I thank you for the clear, organized way in which you presented the archetype workshop.  I am working with the materials you gave us and finding them beneficial.

What a meaningful experience the entire conference was for me.  Such a blessing to connect with so many folks paying attention and staying awake to this journey of being and becoming.

Jung and the Arts

This will be the focus of the first Jung in the South Conference and except for a few folks I know who would like to present, this is as far as it has gotten. I would like to make this planning a group endeavor. Is anyone connected with a college or university or art institute (housing and board made easier) that might be interested in hosting the event? I imagine during the summer if an academic setting.  If you do plan to check with organizations in your area, please let me know so I don't…

Suggestions on Readings for a Directed Study Proposal.

Since my graduate program doesn't offer any Jungian courses regularly, I'm getting ready to draft a proposal for an independent study course that focuses specifically on Jung.  There's a couple of faculty members that have an interest in Jung that may agree to be the overseer and mentor for me on this.  I figured if I came up with a proposed course of study that it would only help my chances of getting one to agree, but I'm having a very hard time narrowing down what the proposed readings for…
