The Archetype of Money:
Power, Identity, and Emotion

A four week seminar series

(Each class will be recorded for future viewing)

In this seminar series we focus on the role of money in psyche and culture. Since the time that human beings developed agriculture and animal husbandry, various measurements of wealth were developed to determine the power, status, identity, and viability of individuals and kingdoms. In this seminar series we look at the archetypal roots of money and how we might both examine and transform our relationship with it.

This seminar series includes one free seminar plus four additional seminars which focus on specific aspects of the archetypal roots of money as a social device. Each seminar module includes resources and further learning opportunities available through Depth Psychology Academy site.

Until you make the unconscious conscious,
it will direct your life, and you will call it fate.” — Carl Jung

Money is one of the givens of modern life. Although some have tried, no one can function comfortably in the modern world without taking money into account. Although money is something that most people do not like to talk about socially, it is one of the most important intellectual constructs in our world today. It’s power to change lives for good or ill is truly magical, and in essence is completely a construct of the imagination. When viewed from the perspective of Jungian psychology, a picture of money and finance emerges which is quite different from what we typically see presented to us in the contemporary world. Money has come to represent the central symbol of wealth, status, power, and life energy in the world today. When we understand money through the lens of the numinosum – as one of the sacred images of the archetypal self – we can begin to make shifts in our relationship with money that we might not have considered previously.

Money is one of the givens of modern life. In this seminar series we explore ways to develop a relationship with money based on Jungian concepts of archetype, symbol, and a psychological energy. We’ll explore new ways to explore money as an archetypal symbol which can serve our highest aspirations, rather than making us a slave to its tantalizing and seductive images of material salvation. Join us for this enlightening seminar series and explore new understanding of money from a Jungian perspective.
