Featuring James R. Newell
A Prequel to Jung, Creativity, and the Arts – A Free Introductory Class!
Saturday, February 19th, 1:00pm Pacific (4:00pm Eastern; 9:00pm UK) As a way to celebrate creativity and the arts, the Depth Psychology Alliance is hosting a free online concert featuring James Newell, director of the Depth Psychology Alliance and the Depth Psychology Academy. This concert is a prequel to the upcoming free introductory class, Jung, Creativity, and the Arts. Join James as he performs a 40 minute set of original compositions. He’ll close his set with an introduction to the Persian poet Hafiz and a selection of songs adapted from the Persian ghazals (songs) of Hafiz. Click here to register for the free introductory class James R. Newell, Ph.D., MTS. James is the director of the Depth Psychology Alliance and the Depth Psychology Academy. James earned his Ph.D. in History and Critical Theories of Religion from Vanderbilt University (2007), he holds a master's degree in pastoral counseling and theology from the Vanderbilt University Divinity School (2001). James has spent much of his working life as a professional musician, singer-songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist with interests in jazz, blues, folk, world, and devotional music. Since his youth, James has worked with a variety of blues greats including John Lee Hooker, James Cotton, Jr. Wells, Hubert Sumlin, Big Joe Turner, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and others.
