12258933661?profile=RESIZE_710xCarl Jung’s insights into trauma and dissociation were groundbreaking in their day. Since that time, contemporary Jungians, medical professionals, and mainstream psychotherapists have greatly broadened our understanding of trauma, post-traumatic stress, the impact of trauma on the body and the central nervous system, as well as a variety of healing modalities. In this course we will explore all of these and more. This is an important course for anyone interested in learning more about trauma and its effects on the individual and society from a Jungian perspective.

This course includes one free class plus eight full modules with resources and further learning opportunities available through our online learning platform. Successfully complete all of the assignments in the online learning platform and earn a certificate of completion!

Attendees may also simply audit the course,
without needing to complete assignments for credit

“a traumatic complex…forces itself to tyrannically upon the conscious mind. The explosion of affect is a complete invasion of the individual, it pounces upon him like an enemy or a wild animal. I have frequently observed that the typical traumatic affect is represented in dreams as a wild and dangerous animal – a striking illustration of its autonomous nature when split off from consciousness”.

~ Carl Jung, CW 16, par. 166-67

From childhood abuse and neglect, to automobile accidents, sexual assault, war, and the cumulative effects of the day to day stress of contemporary life, trauma can be found at the root of many of our modern day maladies. Until we begin to understand our own traumas, and the traumas that impact our friends, neighbors, and fellow citizens of the world, we will remain at a loss when we try to understand why people behave the way they do. There has been an enormous research done on the area of trauma and post-traumatic stress during the last thirty years of which many Jungians remain unaware of. At the same time, researchers into the neurobiology of trauma, as well as cognitive and other mainstream trauma therapies, remain unaware of the valuable insights available through the Jungian approach. In this course we will bring many of these ideas together and survey the field of trauma and trauma treatment from a Jungian perspective.

Each weekly meeting of the course will explore some aspect of trauma and its treatment from a Jungian perspective. A discussion and question/answer session will follow each class presentation. Additionally, a wealth of resources for further study will be available to participants through our online learning platform. Those participants who successfully complete the assignments in the online learning platform will receive a certificate of completion which may be used as credit toward a future certification program. Don’t miss this opportunity to deepen your understanding of the impact of trauma and how to approach treatment from a Jungian perspective. Anyone who is interested in a the treatment of trauma from a Jungian perspective will benefit from this course.
