Hear ye! Hear ye! After reading Gray Crawford's exquisite discussion on the astro/mythological relevance of the asteroid Persephone, and seeing the beautiful images he has chosen to illustrate this illuminating piece I am moved to tears.
Not only does Gray's work reflect a supreme knowledge and application of the imaginal, astrological art but his sensitive integration with an Imaginal Psychology, a la Hillman, is superb.
I'm delighted about it, in the same way I was moved to hear the delivery online of Becca Psyche Tarnas' master's thesis. She's a twenty-two year old woman and she appears to live and understand the geo-imaginal world and way of soul, in a way that to me confirms and reaffirms that this style of being and mode of consciousness and reflection, so rooted in the past, is also the wave of the future. People like Bonnie Bright, Gray, Becca and others will be alive in the world and having impact at that time! Could there be anything more exciting? Should I, by then, be resting on the other side, you can count on me to be a soul-peeper. I intend NOT to miss the action of these "bright"(as in Bonnie) by then, extra-ordinarily ripened souls!
Many years ago I did a doctoral dissertation on the application of an imaginal psychological process to the art of astrological counseling. I worked with a Jungian Analyst, who was wonderful in his acceptance of my attempt to integrate an Imaginal Perspective into the work. I see now, more than ever, when I read Gray, listen to Becca, or read Hillman, and so many others, how very important and relevant the integration of an imaginal perspective is into our daily lives, not only now but especially will be in the unknown future.
I often awaken in the morning with sensations of overwhelming sadness and the rush of unwelcome salty tears that make an invisible mask over my face. I'm a Scorpio with planets and asteroids, such as Persephone, residing quite close to my Scorpio sun which, often by birth, has a tumultuous, yet deeply transformatiive relationship with Hades/Pluto and Chronos/Saturn. Luckily this potent, planetary triad, are all graced by the occasional, sweet, protective frosting of Jupiter. All this adds up to the kinds of future Plutonian experiences described by Gray, that will now no doubt heighten with the upcoming grand water trine.
Gray's piece has added meaningful, rich flavor to my mysterious experiences of suffering. It has provided a veil through which the astro/mytho/psychological future becomes more and more beautifully transparent personally and globally.
I'm going to re-read Gray's piece now, slowly, deeply, passionately, erotically, darkly, poetically and yes... hopefully.
Did someone say Hades/Pluto?

Gee, Judith, this sort of praise is difficult for me to take in- but I am very thankful for it. I will make sure to listen to the work of Becca Tarnas- I just came across a link to her (actually I think it may have been from you!). Her father is a big influence on me. I've only read "The Soul's Code" by James Hillman, but absolutely loved it and have felt like I should read more of his work.
I hope you are able to soak in some transformation and expansion through these upcoming times, and whatever suffering you have been experiencing helps you ascend in the end to a better place for yourself. I also do hope the upcoming grand water trine will correlate with some pleasurable experiences.
with gratitude, Gray
