Just another Introduction

I have just read the entries in the discussion group and wanted to join in. I was glad to see that Angela had tried before to post an intro. for herself as I did ... and mine also seemed to disappear in the ether.

I am Terry, older single female, living in UK in a basement flat with a small terrace outside french doors. I have a grape vine with black grapes (not ready yet) and a fig tree giving a good supply for the first time. My family, son, daughter in law and two grandchildren, Tom and Issy, live above in the main part of the house which I have lived in for about 35 years. Situated in South West England we have lovely countryside and beaches around Plymouth City.

My interest in the course was prompted by some mystical visions and experiences I had following the unexpected death of my husband 5 yrs ago. I began to write compulsively in rhythmic verse for about 20 months after one experience in France where I was staying in my mobile home which has acted as my refuge and sanctuary. I read Visions Seminars, Carl Jung gave at the Tavistock Clinic in London and was excited and enthralled as I read and felt as if I were a student actually in attendance. I joined the Depth Psychology group thrilled that it was speaking of Soul in the way I personally understood it and personally use 'active imagination' as I understand it . Also love James Hillmans concepts and writing.

My experience of Soul/God/Divine was grounded in Christianity, ruptured and thought lost aged 29 when living in South Africa and has evolved to Mysticism accepting different forms for the 'inner divine' following the resurgence of my need for inner meaning during these past 5 yrs which have been filled with synergistic events and adventures as I explored old and new avenues under the heading I titled 'Personal Soul Quest'. I am now convinced my Soul is alive and well and have begun to condense some of my rather extended verse into lyrics with a close friend who composes the music in a 'rock' style, but also gets inspired from his research into Ley lines and sacred geometry in terms of Sacred Stone Circles on Dartmoor. Our style (I write about sacred/soul/myth, from a personal view), was not an immediate favourite with the mainly folk, rock, reggae jamming group in the Pub, but we didn't 'bomb' or falter and we were elated ...it was fun to perform our creation!

I have used Medusa as a personal myth to understand events in my life especially with the wonderful Pegasus arising from her severed neck. I had a vision of Pegasus and Aphrodite in Spain while my husband was still alive which I didn't talk about only understanding it in some measures now with Pegasus links with the Muses.

I will leave this here as a personal introduction and hope to join in a more general discussion level later and feel glad to be interacting with people of similar interests. Good to meet you all. x

  • Ah, sacred stone circles...  My husband and I were handfasted at Stonehenge ten years ago (following a wedding ceremony at Marlborough Town Hall), and our reception was held inside the Avebury Circle.

I love the new discoveries they're making about Stonehenge -- there's a mythology trying to become known!

It's a pleasure to meet you.

    • hello Vicky Jo, sorry for the late reply ... I've been busy with personal myth unraveling and have not been able to keep up with mail or the course in fact. Trust I can move on now more confidently with new insights and feel grateful for the synchronicity in all these activities around myth. So glad the technology gives recordings so I canl catch up!   Lovely shot of Obama thank you.

    • And... this just in.  :-)

9142885099?profile=originalThe caption I saw read: Marine One deviates with Pres. Obama for a surprise visit to Stonehenge: "How cool is this? Spectacular ... knocked it off my bucket list," he said.

    • That is just too cool! What synchronicity in action. Thanks for sharing, Vicky Jo.

  • Good hearing from you, Terry. I miss Southwest England; I taught at Schumacher College a few years ago. Did you know that under Dartmoor is a huge bubble of granite? The image of circles/spheres comes up a lot out there and even reaches into people's dreams.

  • Terry: I'm so glad you've persisted through this long enough to be able to share your post here in this group. Your story is remarkable: a true testament of the mythological dimension manifesting in form. I'm sorry about your husband and know from my own experience with losing loved ones that these events often provide windows into other ways of being. I appreciate you sharing and am inspired by what you've chosen to do (or went along with? :) when soul took over. Making poetry and music seems to be, after all, the mythological dimension of psyche—a language that can be understood universally. Beautiful work, and thank you for doing it.
