"I wrote below that pleroma - the summation of all things - could be a myth for the quantum entangled universe. I meant to say an archetype, as it is not a story per se.  Before the pleroma comes the apocalypse, the unveiling and then the pleroma. …"

"A myth for a quantum-entangled world could be the biblical image of the pleroma - the summation of all things.  Perhaps the Hindu Akashic Record is the same thing, the idea that everything that ever was or will be or is now is somehow written or…"

"Kerry; the idea that came to my mind was quantum physics and especially quantum entanglement. Now of course there is a gap between what is going on down at that sub-atomic level and what is going on "up here" in the Newtonian universe. But the…"

"Ed; great question.  The bible seems to talk about the Big Gestalt hypothesis that fundagelicals call the Rapture -"...in a moment, in a twinkling of an eye..."  New Agers, too, talk about a Global Mind Shift (Willis Harmon). I tend to believe that…"

"Will; I see the archetype of apocalypse as both personal and societal.  The personal I defined below as the end of denial - the 2X4 in the face experience.  The societal is when people become aware (conscious) of how the larger game of society is…"

"Apocalypse is also a personal myth, like a fractal of its larger meaning in society. We personally experience apocalypse when our illusion or denial about something or someone is confronted in a way we cannot ignore.  It is a personal "unveiling"…"

"Another way to define apocalypse is "unveiling".  Recall the scene in Oz when Toto (instinct?) pulls aside the curtain revealing to Dorothy that Oz is just an old carnival barker. This happens when people come to see the real game that is being…"

"To what extent do you think that our current national malaise - the whole Red State vs Blue State thing - is about myth or the lack of concensus on what our myth is? "

  • Hello Jerry,

Welcome to the online depth psychology community. I'm so glad you've joined us. As you may know, we currently have over 2100 members from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, please take a moment and introduce yourself in the Forum and let the community know what brings you here or what your background is. Also, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

The January online book club featuring  "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David E. Schoen has just ended, but you can still read the archived comments and listen to the four weekly archived teleconferences with David if you want--or browse the written discussions from past months as well. We'll have more Book Club groups in coming months. Otherwise, we've just launched an ongoing special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak which you can join anytime if you wish.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community.
