Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?
what draws me in is the importance and necessity of exploring one's unconscious mind, dreams an, delving into cultural and archetypal myths of the individual. Understanding this realm in addition to the conscious mind and one's ego provides a "wholistic" picture of the individual. Without focus on the unconscious, one is "incomplete".
I expect to gain a deeper cognitive understanding and become more immersed in Jungian psychology and the many depth concepts that I still struggle.

Welcome Serena,
Glad you found and decided to join the Alliance. I noticed your usage of yoga. My wife is a counselor and certified yoga instructor who uses yoga in her counseling sessions as a way to embody the issues being brought to sessions. She currently works with youths in a psychiatric facility using yoga as well. Also, congratulations on being state funded for your work with gambling issues. Wish such was available in my home state.
Now to the official welcome:
As you may know, we currently have nearly 2000 members from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.
On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.
Also, as you may be aware of the January online book club featuring "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David E. Schoen who is, of course, also offering a free 4-week teleseminar which started January 9--though you can listen to the archived version and join any future week. Since the online part of the Book Club is done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule--and you can join the discussion anytime, even if you don't have the book. Also upcoming in January is a special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak starting January 19.
In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community.
