  • I'd like to add a thank you for the group and for the comments so far. I am two months into my dissertation and completely unsure what to expect. I'm enjoying reading the comments and learning from them.
  • On "basic" and "prior"-ities...so entirely true, which is exactly how I found the words I was not saying. Return to the heart of the matter, which for me is exactly that: the heart (and soul) of matter...the earth, elements, experience and response. Thanks, Maurice - your insights are well-timed!
  • Hi Friends,

I would love to participate in conversations about the dissertation writing process. Not as an expert, but as someone who has simply spent some time reflecting on the process and its wrinkles... something i find myself reminding folks about outside of PSI, but that I am sure you all already know is to start with your passion and work your way out... the other thing that emerged for me yesterday while sitting with some questions, was the degree to which the process is SO much more of basic (in the sense of primary or possessing prior-ity) than the content... be well

  • Jeanne's right, Robin. Welcome! I'm in your boat after a whole year of trying to figure out what it was I was not saying! ha! Finally on my way with words bring written, or, to keep with the metaphor, steps to the dance being choreographed.
  • Welcome Robin! It can be a long lonely journey, if we do the dissertation dance completely solo . . . I feel like those with whom I stayed connected from my class helped me press to completion within the 2 year window. It's no small undertaking. Feel free to USE this site to your best advantage.
  • Four months into dissertation. I need this group!
  • Yo Jilly Willy!!!!
  • Welcome, Jill!
Please feel free to share the direction you are currently pointing your dissertation!

    With great joy~

Sharing Tips and Resources: Hermeneutics: An Intellectual Tradition for Communication Studies

I know this group hasn't been very active; however, I think it could be a remarkable resource for all of us working on a thesis or dissertation if members would share any resources they come across that might be of help to others, or offer tips they find useful in doing the work as those practices become useful to them. On that note, I came across what I think is a valuable scholarly paper on Hermeneutics that may be helpful and wanted to share. Good luck to all, wherever you are in your…

What I wouldn't give to be a bona fide member of this group!

Hello All: It's so cool to read about your exploits on your "journeys" through academia.  My deepest desire is to go on to fo my PhD in Spiritual Direction through Wisdom University or ITP. The only thing holding me back is $$$ at the moment. Even though I made the Dean's Commendation list for the MCounsel (Hons) programme at my Alma Mater in Aussie, NZ isn't the best country for trying to source scholarship or fellowship funding.  Especially if you haven't completed your last grad degree here.…
