  • Welcome Barbara! Great to have you join our community here. I also joined the Alliance to find greater connection and exposure to the depth psych community. This is a large network and many orientations. I hope you find some of what you seek and will yourself share in depth background and experience. Best wishes to you on your journey here and elsewhere.

As you may know, we currently have about 2200 members here on the Alliance from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, please take a moment and introduce yourself in the Forum and let the community know what brings you here or what your background is. Also, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

The January online book club featuring "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David E. Schoen (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/january-2013-online-b...) has ended but you can read the archived comments and listen to the four weekly archived teleconferences with David if you want--or browse the written discussions from past months as well. We'll have more Book Club groups in coming months.

Otherwise, we've recently launched an ongoing special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/special-study-group-j...) which you can join anytime, and are offering a special group on Zen and Jungian thought with Zen Master Genpo Merkel (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/event-listing-special...) in March.
In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all!

I look forward to seeing you around the community.

    Best Reagards,

    Mark Sipowicz, Board Member

Our heart glows, and secret unrest gnaws at the root of our being. Dealing with the unconscious has become a question of life for us.

Sorting the Bones

“This is our meditation practice as women, calling back the dead and dismembered aspects of ourselves……”–Clarissa Pinkola Estes

In her dream, a woman finds a pile of bones out behind the place in which she is living.  This is a disturbing image–with its suggestion of a crime have been committed, an act of brutality, or harm having been done.  Although the dream does not provide information about the actual events that occurred, it marks a dark history.  The…

Out Of Control

In her dream a woman is in a car hurtling down a slope with a drop-off into the water.  This is not a good place to be.  The dream shows imminent danger to the woman (and presumably to her car).   If this situation were happening in real life—we would likely be panicking and afraid for our life.  Waking up from such a dream causes us to ask: where in my life am I so out of control and what danger am I hurtling towards?

When a dream brings us such an urgent image, we are wise to…

Nature Dreaming

I dream about foxes living on my property—a silver fox and a red fox.  In the dream, I do not see them, but I know that they are there—mysterious presences that come through the woods and occasionally make themselves known.  In the waking world, I have seen the red fox.  Once, in the dead of winter, I looked out my dining room window and saw it walking on the surface of our frozen pond.  The contrast of color was startling—its bushy rust colored coat framed by the white and gray tones of the…
