  • Welcome Ian,

Glad you found and decided tp join the Alliance. Also enjoyed browsing your website. I do hope you will consider adding your works to the discussion of how depth psychology engages the world. I am currently working a theatre piece with the use of reggae music and enjoying the challenge. Ever had your musical works as the focus of a threatre piece or dance?

Well, on to the official welcome...

As you may know, we currently have about 2200 members here on the Alliance from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.
On that note, please take a moment and introduce yourself in the Forum and let the community know what brings you here or what your background is. Also, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.
The January online book club featuring "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David E. Schoen (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/january-2013-online-b...) has ended but you can read the archived comments and listen to the four weekly archived teleconferences with David if you want--or browse the written discussions from past months as well. We'll have more Book Club groups in coming months.
Otherwise, we've recently launched an ongoing special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/special-study-group-j...) which you can join anytime, and are offering a special group on Zen and Jungian thought with Zen Master Genpo Merkel (http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/events/event-listing-special...) in March.
In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community.

    Looking forward to your posts,

Listen to a talk I presented on the Postmodern condition as it might be understood in terms of mutations to the Egyptian deities of writing and creativity - Seshat and Thoth - and the Greek deity of writing/communications, travel and trade, Hermes (presented for Philosophy in the Library series, Central Victoria, Australia (August 2015)). Part 1: Seshat, Thoth, Hermes and…

I'm interested in alliance members' thoughts on the phenomena of ghosts - especially from Jungian and Groffian perspectives that are influenced by Quantum physics (I.e. post classical science). I recall somewhere that some Jungians theorise both an internal collective unconscious AND a kind of objective external imaginal dimension in which matter and mind coalesce ... the psychoid realm perhaps? Apparently Pauli the physicist and Jung discussed such issues and Jung saw the third coniunctio…

Site members may be interested in my poetry collection 'The Alchemical Sequence' which plays with the idea of an 'alchemical autobiography' whilst simultaneously re-staging the enigmatic encounter trope so central to layman first encounters with alchemical recipes historically. The text also deliberately blurs the line between 'art/poetry' and 'psychology' - again a typical feature of alchemical texts in history. The collection also features a range of traditional alchemical…
