"Hi there, Carla. JEANNE M. SCHUL COMES TO TOWN !! If this does not get your attention!
I was scanning through the groups to see what actually is going on there. In the group "Jung in the South" I just happened to see that Jeanne M. Schul wrote she…"
"Ed, how fortunate I am! I just found the collected papers by Wolfgang Koehler in our own public library, which I promptly have reserved for myself. Thanks again! I'm on my way!"
"Thanks, Ed, for your info on Gestalt. As for the snow: don't risk anything beyond the limits of your back. We (my family) have lived in the midwest of Canada for around 20 yrs! Warm greetings and best wishes of the season. "
"The Origin and History of Consciousness - by Erich Neumann
I bought this (years ago) because I was simply attracted by the title. The best buy of my life! It introduced me to a entrely new (for me) insight in human thinking and feeling based on…"
"Hi Carla, indeed I do know the word "leuk" There just isn't an english equivalent don't you think? I emigrated in 1956 with my family but i'm still totally bilingual."
"Sorry, only now I see you live in Amstelveen. May be you are dutch anyway and know far more than just 'gezellig' I am new too and I wonder now if there exists such a thing as a "gezellige gestalt" Don't answer. I assume joking is not good behaviour…"
"Sorry Ed, I had to break up my comment because it was over 2000 words. I did this by copieing and pasting and the resulting sequence is: 10:42 pm and 10:42 pm. Is there a word counter I am not aware of which could make me stop in time?"
"This I have from the original use of the word in german as well as dutch as "total form" or "attitude". Here I will work with the meaning for Gestalt as "one meaningful form or image".The question would now become: "Is the soul a meaningful form or…"
"Hello Ed, You wrote: "How about the idea that the soul is the gestalt of life? Just trying it out." Wow! And here I am, joining wih the aim to learn more about depth psychology and particularly to learn what Gestalt is. I must confess I said I had a…"

I think we may be a bit dated William. Erich died prematurely in 1960, at age 55. What a loss!! Think what he would have had to say if he had lived another 25 years or so.
I think The Origins and History of Consciousness, is one the most important books I've read. He stood on Jung's shoulders, so-to-speak. Of course "centroversion" is the goal of a well-balanced psyche. Jung did mention that no one was purely introverted or extraverted; that we have the potential for both attitude types, and therefore one's habitual stance is a matter of degree on a continuum, but Neumann was the first to imply that being centered on this spectrum was the ideal.
By-the-way, I love your profile picture. What is that? A nice Bordeaux? My choice is usually chardonnay, however.

Another theoretical chemist! Transition state theory was my area, but I couldn't find ways to continue in chemistry, so have never been back to it since I finished my degree. What was your area?
