  • I believe he meant that there is a fundamental shift in the underlying structure of  of the collective unconscious, and that a new or should I say old archetypal feminine structure is coming in to birth, but because it's so new and not integrated that it will take a dark unconscious shadowy form in the collective that may or may not be able to integrate it quickly enough as we go through these tumultuous power shifts. like the goddess Kali. I personally am a little more optimistic but apparently some of his more darker visions of the future were recorded in the red book which I have not seen. whenever a new archetype emerges it takes time for it to be integrated into consciousness especially with the collective unconscious. Not just the personal unconscious. I think modern, postmodern and contemporary art reflect this quite clearly. But what do I know I'm only an humble artist
  • Les, What do you think Jung meant by this new age of the  undifferentiated feminine?
  • I Believe it's in archetypes of the collective unconscious where he speaks about some of the visions he recorded in the Red book. He is in short, pessimistic whether the collective will have the consciousness to make it through this frightening transition from a patriarchal to a matriarchal, He feared the shadow element of the new goddess might not be able to be integrated into consciousness fast enough, and the destruction of man is in the balance. He felt the only hope was if enough people owned their own shadow content. Although I have not read the Red book since it was never published, until from what I understand this year it contains his active imagination archives, along with his drawings, and dreams.
  • This is utterly fascinating Leslie - where does Jung talk about the undifferentiated feminine?  Can you say more about this?  Much appreciation and no worries on how you blog or what you bring to the table.  A wonderful exploration is on your mind!  Warm regards, Mary
  • Hello, I'm quite new to blogging, but since this is a Jungian art group as such I thought I might float an idea out there that has been pestering me for years. when Carl Jung spoke about this new age of the undifferentiated feminine and how it might manifest. I can't help but think we owe the emergence of installation art to this new archetypal structure that is emerging. Everything about the installation or installation art would seem to describe aspects of the great mother. For example the gathering of objects and their rearrangement to create new context and understanding of our relationship to the world around us and nature. Marcel Duchamp would've been at the forefront of this with found objects, he actually had a female persona that he would often adopt and actually dress as a woman. I think the found object was the prelude to installation art. In the transformative years of Berlin right after wall fell virtually all galleries had installation art and people were creating giant spontaneous outdoor installations in reclaimed spaces in East Berlin. It was a cleansing and reclaiming of the city. what was the center of the authoritarian male psyche was now being reclaimed by a feminine matriarchal new structure, and expressed most eloquently in installation art. installation art is simply taken for granted now without much thought of how it came into being. I'm new to blogging so perhaps this is inappropriate jabbering. would happily be open to any critiques on blogging etiquette.  Les
  • Okay, Silviya,

I blame you for the last 45 minutes looking through this website!!!!!  Thanks.

  • I am asking the artists in this group, regardless of what medium/media you use, to provide a brief artists statements about your own work.  I'd like to hear about your sources of inspiration, your creative process, use of materials (why do you use certain media?), purpose, relationship to psyche and transpersonal experiences.  I know, that's a lot of info!  So, offer whatever seems easy, hard, pertinent, tangential, etc.
  • Thank you Laura! I posted this collage hoping one or more of the images would strike someone as I really haven't a clue what they may be tied to in an archetypal sense. I googled green man images - thanks for that insight :-)
  • Hello Group  - I'd love to share some images that have arisen in the fast few months.
I have always doodled and the same objects would manifest repeatedly including somewhat predictableand identifiable images including abstractions of hearts, spirals, eyes, paisleys, etc. In the past few quarters at Pacifica, the nature of these drawings have shifted to more unfamiliar and surprising figures of animal-like creatures with some human elements, such as the structure of the eyes or lips or an expression. This new development was very exciting and spurred my curiosity as I felt that the new figures had an autonomous quality. I made a collage....9142752052?profile=original
  • Thanks for starting your group.  I clicked on to join and hope to interact.  I have been an artist for most of my life, but now enjoy bringing up images from the unconscious and creating the painting, along with mysticism.

Art and psyche

I have been practicing a type of painting that I call emerging image. After making a chaotic background, I stare until I see forms and images. Then I begin to paint. The emerging process continues throughou

9 Things That Happen When You Carry A Sketchbook With You Nonstop—by Priscilla Frank

Love this! I'm NOT an artist, and it really speaks to me... 9 Things That Happen When You Carry A Sketchbook With You Nonstop—by Priscilla Frank Draw everywhere and all the time. An artist is a sketchbook with a person attached," artist Irwin Greenberg said. OK, but what if you're not an artist? Or, at least, not yet. Can you still gain something from incorporating a sketchbook into your everyday life? The answer is yes, yes, a million times yes. And here's why.  Exercising your creative mind…

Dream Art

I thought it would be fun to post dream inspired art images along with the narrative of the dream that inspired the image. 11 x 14 Acrylic on Canvas This painting was done as part of my work with Karla Van Vliet, Art and the Practice of Presence. Dream: I am at some kind of outdoor function. There is a woman who jumps up and starts cleaning. I hear Mozart music and I close my eyes and start to spin around and around on the chair I am sitting on which now feels like a piano stool. It feels good…

Reconnecting with the Source of Artistic Expression

I work with clients who are professional artists, adolescent musicians who compete in international competitions, etc. Presenting problems sometimes include a lack of inspiration or crippling anxiety that blocks the ability to perform or audition. My sense is that these problems are partly due to a disconnection from the individual's core soul source - as well as a loss of serving as a channel for spiritual expression.  I am inviting folks to share how they stay connected to their creative…
