Ann Yeomans replied to Janet Fortess's discussion Lecture 2 Community Education-Red Book Study Group with Robert Bosnak February 2-16 in ARCHIVED-Red Book Study Group with Jungian Robert Bosnak
"In aid of Jung’s narrative images in this section, I found the minuscule paintings at the beginning of the book in Liber Primus haunting and immensely moving, as they show how much intensity of concentration Jung invested in bringing forth (shall we…"

Ann Yeomans replied to Janet Fortess's discussion Lecture 2 Community Education-Red Book Study Group with Robert Bosnak February 2-16 in ARCHIVED-Red Book Study Group with Jungian Robert Bosnak
"Chris and Janet, your opening questions were invaluable, and I identified with your feelings: thrilled, confused, excited and worried.  Ava’s elucidation of negative capability was so helpful - “when a man is capable of being in uncertainties,…"

Ann Yeomans replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Lecture 1 for Special Study Group: Jung's Red Book with Robert Bosnak Jan 19, 2013 in ARCHIVED-Red Book Study Group with Jungian Robert Bosnak
"My understanding from several sources is that we may not have had the bounty of the Red Book today if Toni Wolff had not been Jung's guide / companion in the process.  While there's so much focus on her being his mistress, even Emma Jung (who was…"

"Lament and longing are feelings we experience, but are also those of the images and daimons who are waiting for us to talk to them, like the young woman in The Castle in the Forest (262/223) who exclaims, "Finally a word from a human mouth!"  It…"

"This image (thanks, Ava, for opening it up--I couldn't get it to!) struck me as the feeling of having been grabbed by the spirit of the depths to the point where Jung is calling for his lost soul (p. 127 Reader's Edition [HIii(r)] [1] in facsimile)…"

Ann Yeomans left a comment for Ed Koffenberger
"Thanks for the welcome.  I got Hillman's lecture at Pacifica on the Red Book and have been holding groups for the past year, primarily with the active imagination approach he described (even before the book was out).  It has been tremendously…"

  • Hi Ann: Glad to have you here in  the Alliance. I'm sure you know you'll find many like-minded individuals in the community who have been deeply impacted by the Red Book. There was so much anxiety in the community-at-large before it was released with many not knowing how the intimate details Jung's inner life would be accepted in the mainstream--and just this morning I read that California politician Nancy Pelosi says she is reading the Red Book in her free time. Imagine!

Meanwhile,  I hope you'll jump in and engage with your peers by joining a discussion, commenting on others' posts, or posting some of your own work--or if you have links, articles, quotes--especially on the Red Book, I'd love to see some. I'll send you some tips on navigating the site in a separate email in case its of help. Enjoy the site!

  • I believe there are several online groups going on as well. I'm glad that the publication has stirred the imagination of those both "deep" into depth psychology as well as those new to the field. Keep on, keepin' on. :)
  • Welcome Ann,

The odd synchronicity (at least in my mind) of James Hillman's illness and the publication of the Red Book has had me stopped in my tracks. I was lucky enough to be at Pacifica when he spoke about the Red Book and it may have been one of those junctures in time and space signifying something deeper going on. Glad you have joined us and hoipe you will find some blogs, forums, and groups to your liking.
