1. The Strength card in tarot, often depicted as a maiden taming a lion. I love aeclectic.net's notes on this:

The Maiden represents higher feelings and that we can experience if…"

I'll…"

Janet Fortess replied to Christopher Doggett's discussion Lecture 12 - Red Book Study Group in ARCHIVED-Red Book Study Group with Jungian Robert Bosnak

The topic is words, words, words!  So it’s funny to write encouraging us to “use our words” to share what we’re experiencing in the RB lectures.  As chaos and madness are embraced Soul speaks: ”  Madness is a special form of the spirit and clings…"

  • Good afternoon Janet - thank you for the invite to be on-line, colleague friends which I wholeheartedly am pleased to accept, however and concerning you wish that I be able to participate in the Q + A with Robert today;  I had a prior prescheduled, healing-the-family tree session today scheduled long before I knew about this opportunity, was unable to reschedule as these folks came a long way for us to work together; so I was disappointed and sad I missed out.  I read that Chris was also unable to attend and that you were recording same for him to hear later and wonder - is there anyway I could also hear the recorded event?  Regards Linda

  • I hope I gave you cause for thought yet I suspect consternation!
  • Janet,

You left me confused with the term - backed up responses.

    I enjoyed your latest post.

    David

  • Hi Janet. Greetings, and a (somewhat belated) welcome to the online depth psychology community! I'm so glad you've joined us and so appreciate your potential willingness and expertise in moderating the Red Book group. If you need help getting around, or want to strategize please let me know.

As you may know, we currently have over 1700 members from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from many walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like.

Also you may want to consider joining the discussion in the online book club if you haven't already: In November we're featuring "Madness at the Gates of the City: The Myth Of American Innocence,” a mythological and cultural look at our current belief systems with Barry Spector. Since the Book Club is all done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule--and you can join the discussion even if you don't have the book. The Red Book group, by the way, will likely work much like the Book Club so it should be of help for you to peruse it a bit. Let me know if you have suggestions to improve it.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link---- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community. ~Bonnie Bright, Founder
