Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?
Narrative psychology combined with social systems on the "outside" and Jungian understanding of the interior "systems" make a nice pairing. Currently working on soul-related theoretical research establishing that soul is a misnomer. A proper understanding begins with seeing that souling as process is a better beginning to understanding the workings within the Psyche.
Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?
Many, but most are Jungian based.

Thank you for the warm welcome. At this point I would love to teach Astrology. I am fascinated by Alchemy. I am almost finished with the book, "On Becoming an Alchemist" by Catherine MacCoun. An easy read. It is more like an step by step with her acquired knowledge concerning Alchemy.
Oh, I don't Tweet. In fact, I try not to spend too much time on the Internet because time is so precious, especially as we get older. Till next time.

Ed,
Thank you for contacting me. Teaching online can be difficult coming from a depth background in a world that focuses on CBT and evidence based psychology. However, the discussions allow for more room to bring in clinical and personal experiences that make for interesting topics. For instance, when we discuss the nature/nurture argument, I usually bring in my experience with the addiction population. Many people have strong opinions about whether or not addiction is genetic or a learned behavior (or both). I would like to work online with subject matter dealing with dreams and more depth oriented topics, however.
Thank you! And yes; ABD! I am writing now full-time and teaching part-time at a CSU; I look very much forward to reading more about Depth Psychology, Dreams and dream interpretation when looking at literature written from dreams and/or dreams as text.I see Dr. Slattery here; great stuff!!
Again, thank you very much!
Ed,
Thanks for the welcome. One way the Sufi work enters my work with clients is internal, dropping into my heart center while working with clients. When appropriate I teach different contemplative practices to help bring balance to the personality structure and complexes (or nafs in Sufi terms). One definition of a Sufi is one who has learned to love all aspects of themselves. The more I learn to recognize, accept and love all of myself the more I can be present and accepting of clients support them.
With some who come to me for Sufi work I may prescribe some of the 99 names, the different qualities of the soul, used as mantra practice. I also work with SoulWork which is Sufi form of active imagination, helping the client form a relation with high self, and from that place beginning to connect with other selves, male, female, child, judge, body, etc.
Best,
Rod
