David Johnson replied to Janet Fortess's discussion Lecture 2 Community Education-Red Book Study Group with Robert Bosnak February 2-16 in ARCHIVED-Red Book Study Group with Jungian Robert Bosnak
"Hi Michael,
Good to know I wasn't the only teenager out there devouring books outside the norm.
I remember reading all those Chariots of the Gods type books, Colin Wilson's The Outsiders, etc.
I always felt Jung to be scientific outsider, which…"

"I have to say that I’m enjoying this group and the Red Book. It is slow reading. I’m finding the footnotes as fascinating as the text. I think the slowness of the reading is giving me time to absorb and be absorbed by the material.
This weekend I…"

"Do dreams give us permission to engage in questionable behavior?

I was struck on page 198 of TRB where Jung discusses the dream regarding the gull flying into the window. The interesting thing is Shamdasani writes “In Black Book 2, Jung noted that…"

"Greetings everyone, I feel like I’m arriving late to the party. I’m a librarian in Los Angeles and my wife is an artist. We are studying The Red Book together and having wonderful conversations regarding the material. I’ve been a long time reader in…"

  • Happy new year David and welcome to the online depth psychology community. I'm so glad you've joined us and I am excited about your interests in Active Imagination, Art, Movement, and Shamanism (very similar to my own). As you may know, we currently have over 1900 members from all over the world and we're growing. I hope as you explore the community a bit you find a dynamic group of like-minded people who are all deeply drawn by the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinical psychologists here, our members come from various walks of life including artists, writers, doctors, scientists, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, there are many opportunities to engage as you browse the site. When you're ready to jump in, please feel free to post a topic for discussion in the forum, respond to someone else's post, or share a link to an article or web site you like. Also, as you may be aware, the January online book club is featuring "The War of the Gods in Addiction" with David E. Schoen who is, of course, also offering a free 4-week teleseminar starting TODAY, January 9. Since the online part of the Book Club is done via writing in an open forum, you can participate at your own level and schedule--and you can join the discussion anytime, even if you don't have the book. Also upcoming in January is a special study group on the Red Book with Robert Bosnak starting January 19.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, you can use the following link----http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site----and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! I look forward to seeing you around the community. ~Jesse Masterson, Alliance Boardmember
