Julian Horack replied to Lucille Bosco's discussion Archetypal Astrology and Its Complexities in Archetypal Astrology
"Interestingly, in Ayurveda and the Vedic literature generally (of which astrology is an important subject) the three modes of nature are
Rajas, Sattva, and Tammas (passion, goodness and ignorance)
They are presided over by the three main deities of…"

Julian Horack replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Christopher Columbus, Astrology, and the Discovery of America in Archetypal Astrology
"I read the article on Columbus and how it was due to a prophecy that the world would end that he wanted to sail out and convert the rest of the planet. It suggests that although the astrology was wrong and superstitious and naive, it indirectly…"

Julian Horack replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion World Transits 2000–2020 An Overview from Richard Tarnas in Archetypal Astrology
"Thanks Bonnie for this valuable reference. Tarnas puts clearly what the world is experiencing in the light of astrological terminology. Especially :

Julian Horack replied to Judith Harte,Ph.D.'s discussion WE'RE RIGHT ON THE VERGE OF ANOTHER NEW MOON AND ALSO AN ECLIPSE.... in Archetypal Astrology
"Talking about new moons, the recent new moon in Aquarius yesterday, just a few degrees from my natal sun, brought about a synchronous event of the most beautiful rainbow I have ever seen, arching coincidentally right over me,a complete double rainbow…"

Julian Horack replied to Judith Harte,Ph.D.'s discussion Astrological Horoscope: As if a Dream? in Archetypal Astrology
"Judith from what I can understand the horoscope could well be seen as a map of the psyche. To have a map makes it easier to explore the territory. However, one needs to decipher the signs and symbols of the horoscope,as one does a dream. They are…"

  • Hi Julian. My apologies for being slow to welcome you here. It's wonderful to see how you've jumped in with both feet and participated by sharing articles and commenting on others!

Hopefully, once you have a chance to explore the Alliance a bit you'll find a dynamic group of likeminded people who are all deeply drawn to the field of depth psychology. While there are many Jungian analysts and clinicians here, as you can probably see, our members come from many walks of life--artists, writers, doctors, healing professionals, counselors, students, business people, etc--so there is much cross-disciplinary knowledge and experience here to be shared.

On that note, in addition to the special online study group on Astrology that starts February 1, you may want to consider joining the online book club too—There's a new author each month, and you can jump in at anytime and participate at whatever level you wish. Even if you don't have the book for this month, you can read all the comments that have gone on so far and get a feel for the story--or Feb. 1 will bring a wonderful new book from Jungian Analyst Erel Shalit.

In case you need detailed help getting started and navigating the site, please use the following link-- http://www.depthpsychologyalliance.com/page/navigating-the-site --and please don't hesitate to ask if you have any questions at all! • Welcome Julian,

I must admit my jealousy when I read of your time in the ashram. My reading has been limited to the Upanishads but recently picked up a copy of the Gita and have enjoyed my early readings. I notice your interest in astrology and point you to the archetypal astrology group within the Alliance. You may find other like-minded folks looking for more perspectives and discussion. Indeed, there are many blogs, forums, and groups related to many topics, so jump right in. I look forward to your posts.
