Mercury Retrograde in the Home of Saturn
When Mercury shifts retrograde our angelic trickster slips into his role as psychopomp, the guide of souls who can journey into the underworld and back again. On a personal level this coincides with a turn within toward awareness not as readily available when Mercury is moving direct, a process that can birth new presence and shed old habits as Mercury reemerges on the other side (Mercury will station direct on January 25 and leave the retrograde shadow zone on February 17). Mercury retrograde…

Boston....I second Bonnie's comments about your unusual name. One day when you have time, myself, and I'm sure many others at the Alliance would love to know the origins around why that name given to you. What books in the vast astrological library are you drawn to? I thought today it would be interesting to ask each member to present a question/a thought/ or a musing that is archetypal/astrological in nature. Then those of us who wish to may respond.....
In the mean time, Boston , so glad to make your acquaintance !Judie
I checked out LILIAN'S website just now and found it to be aesthetically quite lovely. There are many astrological gems to be had there in general, and with this full harvest moon in particular.
Here is a little exercise, that some may also be familiar with related to the new moon cycle. About forty-eight hours after every new moon, look up into the night sky until you spot the first sliver of the crescent moon . If you know astrology just a little meditate upon the intention you wish to set for the next 28 or so days of that moon's cycle, from new to full, to old moon. If you do not know the sign that the new moon falls in, then find it on the internet or another source. Say it's the new moon in Virgo, like the one we just had. Familiarize yourself with the archetypal qualities of that Virgo new moon, such as work, health, service, industriousness, Hestian sacredness and inwardness., etc. Then set your personal intention/ and/or pose a question around those particular qualities related to the Virgo archetype. Then watch how these unfold in a purposeful, meaningful way in your life. You will see the greatest activity around the first 7-10 days, then around 14-16 days, then at 23 or so days and finally 2-3- days before the new moon completes it cycle.
I love this exercise. It has never failed to be in sync with and to embody the archetypal principles as they unfold in daily life and as they relate to the sign the new moon has been in.
What will YOU harvest in less than two weeks??!!
Hello Lilan, What a lovely name. Now that you mentioned it, this is a very full and promising harvest moon..I look forward to reading your MOONLETTER and I will do so this evening when I return from seeing my psychotherapy patients. The term harvest is such a great metaphor for the Virgo time of the year. In the beginning stages of learning the astrological language, the idea of metaphor and archetypal thought were my best teachers. It seems in one way or another we're always aiming for an archetypal harvest in life... But sometimes the tree is full of fruit and other times not so full. But just the real life-oriented act of service itself, to others is the harvest. Of course therein lies the Pisces/Virgo polarity...Pisces as the archetype of cosmic sacrifice and Virgo as the personal/human piece . I look forward to , getting to know you, to experiencing your participation, and to the many Moonletters to come...Judie
