  • Dennis,

Looking forward to meeting you in New Orleans. mI'll check and see if I have the article. If I do, I'll let you know, scan and send it to you.

Also, if the items you sent for comment is for all the group, you might want to post it on the general group discussion "board." Otherwise we will not be able to see what others have stated. I'll comment once it is a general invite (also gives me time to grab a reference or two).

  • Nice to meet you, too, Dennis! We're neighbors! I live in Lodi, just about 40 minutes south of Sacramento.
  • I've heard of the film, but I haven't seen it. I'll have to check it out.
  • I completely agree...He seems to step into the fear and allow it to move through him until it coalesces into his alter ego. I enjoy watching Bruce Wayne walk on the sword edge of both of these identities. I'm also fascinated by his utter confidence in his vision for a new Gotham, which I think allows for the acceptance of the idea of a vigilante in a mask and cape.

You hit the nail right on the head, Dennis. Ledger's Joker is so dark, so chaotic, with so much mysterious depth. I LOVED this character. Beautiful and terrifying are perfect words. One of the best characters in film history, in my opinion. Follow closely by Hannibal Lecter, maybe...

Yes, I have heard about the third film. Can't wait! After seeing Anne Hathaway bring a subtly dark undercurrent to the gentle White Queen character, I'm convinced she'll be an amazing Catwoman. What do you think of her being cast?

  • Dennis,

No, I have not heard anything so thank you for alerting me. I would certainly want to follow this up! It must be a child of the mythological Studies team, of whom I am not one.

    Thank you again.

    Susan

  • Dennis,
I really feel there is a potential connection between MFT and depth. I look at it as internal systems meet external systems and each informs the other. As you extend family systems out to multiple generations, you deepen the interior systems to cultural patterns within the psyche. Some day I'm going to explore this a bit more but I hope there is a thread tying them together in that I find much truth in both approaches and hate that they seem to sit in different corners.
Have you seen any "crossover" like I spoke of above, or am I simply hallucinating? :)
  • Welcome Dennis,

That sense of marginalization is one I understand as I have had a number of conversations with my MFT supervisor about how to bring these two ways of understanding together. Luckily, he is open to new ideas and collaborations, so its been good so far. When its time to take the test, I'll feel like I'm only telling half my story at best. Hope you find much of interest within the Alliance, and I'm glad you are with us.

    Ed

  • Hi Dennis: Welcome to the Alliance. You're definitely in the right place. There are many therapists here in the community who are sort of caught between worlds. In fact, it's wonderful and encouraging to see those like you that have the passion and courage to bring a depth approach to what you are doing. Welcome, and please jump in and engage if you can by commenting or adding your own thoughts. I'll send you some additional info on navigating the site under separate cover in case its of help, and if I can help you in any way, please let me know.
