Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion How pervasive or recognizable is Depth Psychology?-- How (and how often) do you share?
"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Fun. As I understand it, the collect unconscious of humanity is drawn from the combined unconscious dynamics of humanity passed down from the earliest times. If experience is the key, then the alien experience would be alien (couldn't resist) to our…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Absolutely. Even Jung postulated that archetypal images could change and new images added after long periods of acceptance by humanity."

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"The collective unconscious - so far as we can say anything about it at all  - appears to consist of mythological motifs or primordial images, for which reason the myths of all nations are its real exponents. In fact, the whole of mythology could be…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion What a Shaman Sees in a Mental Hospital

  • Dear Ed: From the start of my prqactice in 1955 until about 1982 my privte practice - 1/2 time and the other half in a child gidance clinic was essentially all psychotherapeutic, with almosts no medcication.  I didn't see scarcely any highly disturbed patients, child or adult.

As insurance companies starfted covering most insured patients, they paid as much as 0% until later times reduced it to 50%, FOr qite some years they did not demand detailed explanations or descriptions of the therapy. Regarding Jung, I did not specifically use his concepts, nor did I train in his approach, but read some of his writings, for which I had much sympathy, but no direct application. Although initally trained in psyhchoanalytic theory, I never actually used it, but initially found it fascinating but not too useful. Fortunately, a seemingly conventional psychoanalyst I saw for extensive psychotherfapy turned out to be sufficinetly maverick that he developed his own style of therapy and abandoned most of Freud's basic concepts and methods (Hellmuth Kaiser, Ph.D.  See: "Effetcive Psyhchotherapy: The contributions of Hellmuth Kaiser" by Louis Fierman,MD 1965). IN the past 18-20 yeras I have also worked as a socalled "Locum tenens" psychiatrist  in clinics and hospitals, hired as a temporary staff member, almost enitirely as a medicator, but with decreasing entusiasm each year.)

I have studied several methods of psychotherapy, including certification in aioenergetic Anaysis of Lowen,  and - - most recently William Glassser, MD's Reality Therapy/Choice Theory.

I would be glad to answer any further questions if I can.

  • Hey There :)

Wow that must have been intense work...I think religious abuse is so damaging....I appreciate your desire to help :) No, I haven't had too much luck yet... I am in the process of raising money so I can leave for India in September to go and begin my dissertation research...I need to be there for about 5 or 6 months...I am trying to raise another 10K or so...I have raised 1450 so far...Anyway, if you know anyone who might like to contribute, all the money is a tax write off, and it all goes to the trauma/mental health care of sex trafficking survivors in North India...

    take care!
