  •  Hi Ed, yes indeed...in the last century....I graduated in Psychology in Rome and intended at that time (very long ago...) to become a freudian analyst.... I did a 7 year Kleinian analysis and trained for 3 years to become a children therapist (Winnicott orientation)...

I then decided to change my carreer...and have been in business for many years...until I discovered one again Jung and Hillman ....And decided to return to my passion and also try to understand more deeply what is happening in the corporate world.... So  What about you?

  • Hello Ed,

Well my dissertation is on how nature is healing. I am in sort of a slump writing my dissertation but I have found articles in Shamanism that seem to be helping put a historical piece to the whole thing.  At first it was going to be on Ecopsychology...but I had problems with their claim the nature is Inherently healing.  Because some people dont like the woods, or never have been there. So in further research I found some literature from the psychohynamic folks that say that one has to go through certain developmental levels before they would venture out in the woods...that made sense to me...but still seemed lacking. So since going more into depth psychological research I found and am finding stuff that fits.  I guess my topic will cover the gammut of how nature can be healing/self-soothing...etc...

I hiked the Appalachian Trail and Vermont Long Trail. never been to Kentucky..but I heard its nice there.

    glad to make a friend.

  • Your post soothed me and inspired me. I am having a tough time writing my dissertation even though I love the topic so.  Were you by yourself in the deep forest during those times?  I used to go by myself and everyone was afraid I would be killed by a murderer or something (TV tends to do that).  I used to even skip school and go into the woods and look at all the insects on the ground, make hammocks from grape vines, climb trees and soak in the natural world and leave feeling refreshed.
  • Belated Thanks for the welcome Ed.

Yes, movement in psychotherapy and active imagination is my core specialization and has brought amazing meaning in my clinical and teaching practice. There is something about tapping into the elder feminine wisdom of our body as personal earth - much needed at this time, coming from men and women.  I'd be interested to hear about your experince with engaging body with dreams.

    All the best for now,

    Eleni

  • Hello Ed,

Thank you for the welcome I have trained with Robert Bosnaks Embodied Dreamwork method for the last 15 years. I really like his alchemical way of working with the dream and bringing the body into the work which I feel is necessary in order for transformation.

  • Thanks for the welcome Ed. MA-D is my track. Looking forward to navigating the site!
  • I am looking at how nature is healing to people.  I often went into the woods as a child, later became an outdoor expedition leader and then stumbled onto psychology as a career.  The woods was healing and I want to add to the profession, some insights I gained and thoughts I have.
  • Thanks Ed... I am a born and bred California native and recently (1980) transplanted to the south. I now deeply appreciate my place here in the valley of the Shenandoah in the Shadow of the Massanutten and delight in walking between the worlds here on my home turf when I am not wandering the wild lands west of the Mississippi.

    Grateful to be here!

    Julie

  • Counseling psych, thanks for the welcome!

  • Hi Ed!

You're most welcome for the videos posted. They are all wonderful uses of time. And thanks for the nudge about Jung in the South. We emailed about it waaay back when I was brand new and I'm probably still in the same place except now my Pacifica program has just begun (the MA in Engaged Humanities, the Creative Life) and I'm a bit "anxious" about finding that balance between school/work/art/downtime that everyone on this site knows so well. Therefore, it's important to not take on too much new stuff, since just about everything in my life right now is new!

That said, I know we talked about Haden and I wonder if anyone here is coming up/down for their summer dream conference? I recall making a mental note long ago to try to attend some of the functions if it meshed with my cohort time in person. Maybe someone will post about that here when the date draws closer and we can have a meet up of some sort there/here?

    Laura
