I wonder if the most important element in this process of transformation is for people to understand how our experiences of being affect what Heidegger (1962) refers to as the phenomenology of Dasein (human being, not human doing).
If we are able to expose ourselves to our deepest 'being', we may ultimately better understand our modes of being-in-the-world. As we do, changes take place both in our reasoning and, more importantly, in our ‘sense-ability’ to understand the greater mysteries and relate to God & the Other in love.
I beginning to believe the way(s) people acquire such wisdom (epistemologically speaking), allows them to begin to ask the deeper question "what is the nature of this being?" ― further allowing them to reason this more deeply in the light of love.
My interests in Depth psychology stems from four plus years' experience journeying with men through their "crises of limitations" [see www.mtmaustralia.org.au for an overview]. Also I read a copy of Dr. Robert wood’s dissertation (2010, ITP) which he spoke on “Shadow Aspects & Rites of Passage” and “Psycho-Spiritual Transformation”. What intrigued me most was the 12 lenses he selected to make sense of a participant's transformations, namely:
"...greater self-awareness ...achieved through archetypal encounters in Nature, through ritual, and through reflecting unconscious material onto Nature; and integration of such greater self-awareness ... promotes psycho-spiritual transformation."
Many of Dr. Wood’s lenses resonated deeply with me as an ‘initiate’ as well as a counsellor; most particularly, as they relate to my experiences in "journeying with the Other" through subtle varieties of psycho-spiritual transitions: such as transcendent, or immanent, ecstatic “holy grail experiences” (Gow, 2006). During these, people seem to enter into ‘Liminality’, to coin van Gennep― which seems to “crack open the Ego”, opening wide the doors of perception, granting one ‘the eyes to see’ how our being is shaped or influenced, and how it might shade our sense of 'knowing', we are freer to participate in deeper transformational experiences.

Thanks for your welcome. Yes I am a member of the Jung group in South Florida. I also studied in their training program for one year. Yes Sandplay Therapy is a very unique area which gives one immediate access to the archetypes. I see you are attending Pacifica. I've known several clinicians who graduated from there and loved it.

Quite well actually. Although he is of a different school of thought he is very open to new ideas and a healthy debate. My friend is very "science" orientated and as of late has had a great amount of animosity towards religious fanaticism especially in regard to world politics. Here in lies the beauty of depth psychology, science and soul can be taken together as part of a whole.
