Please share a little about yourself by way of introduction. What draws you to Depth Psychology and what are you looking for from this community?
Narrative psychology combined with social systems on the "outside" and Jungian understanding of the interior "systems" make a nice pairing. Currently working on soul-related theoretical research establishing that soul is a misnomer. A proper understanding begins with seeing that souling as process is a better beginning to understanding the workings within the Psyche.
Do you belong to any other online Psychology-related communities or orgs? If so, which?
Many, but most are Jungian based.

Hi Ed -
The Chicago School has many different programs - both MA & PsyD programs. If you want to talk in generalities, the school has fully integrated multiculturalism into every course & program! As far as what psychology the school focuses on - I can't be too sure. I know that the MA Clinical Psychology program is very large, however I am pretty sure the PsyD program is also popular - but not sure what people mainly chose as their program. My MA was Clinical Psychology, Counseling Specialization if you wanted to know about me :)
When did you become interested in Depth Psychology? I think I have always had an interest but could never name it...Also it became more developed during my Humanistic-Existential class in grad school.
Thanks for the welcome, Ed. I see from the other comments here that you are "The Welcomer"!! GOOD job!!
I look forward to finding my way about the site...
love to start a somatics group. I'll see what transpires.
:-)
Dear Ed,
Thank you for your welcome. I look forward to being engaged here.

Hi Ed,
Glad you're a fellow harp appreciator!
Mine is a Celtic harp (Neo-Celtic, actually). It has 33 strings. I played professionally for about 18 years than put it to the side to pursue my academic studies in Biology/Natural History/Ecology (which were very time consuming!) I've just begun to perform again but only occasionally. I love the instrument and want more time for playing just for the beauty of it and to learn some new tunes. And I want more time for poetry and storytelling and painting, too! Glad to meet you here even so, brief though our interactions may be.
Andrea
Hi Ed and Bonnie ~
Thank you both for your kind welcome!
I'm glad to be connected with you here.
I have a bit of a temporal dilemma that comes up around computer interactions.
My spirit feels more vitally alive when I'm doing creative works - art, poetry, playing the harp or conversing with friends where voices are part of the dialogue, or spending time outdoors exploring and studying the wonders of the natural world. Time spent on the computer often preempts having time available for these things. I haven't resolved this dilemma yet. I love all I know about Depth Psychology which is what prompted me to want to join you here and I will look forward to dropping by but it's doubtful I'll have time to interact with much frequency.
That said, I'm still grateful for your welcome and look forward to whatever insights, gleanings and inspirations will come from being involved in this forum with deep people.
Blessings,
Andrea
Greetings Ed, I am in the midst of much change in my Life right now and just beginning to sneak a peak at the unread emails. I found yours about my joining this community and I feel very welcome. Thank you! I am a Minister and chose to be ordained through a non-denominational church because, at that time, I felt I didn't have the official credentials to "minister" my clients through the counseling work I do. So Minister, Spiritual Director, yes...to this. I also get the honor of officiating the ritual of Marriage. Funny, as I got deeper into my own self discovery and delving into alchemy, I found it quite interesting to Witness the act of Marriage on the "outer" and understand and seeing my own "Marriage" on the "inner". Such wondrous reflections.
Are you in Ohio also? I loved to travel out west where I did much of my learning and really have enjoyed seeing the area around here begin to open more fully to the vast arrays of thinking and feeling. Or it seems being on the east coast too has been a fruitful location of progressive thought, etc. Now here, in the Middle, Mid-West, or "Heart" land, as I like to put it, is opening up to the vast possibilities of thought and feelings/sensing. I appreciate the welcome and will need to run for now. I hope to begin to dabble in the many offerings soon. Oh, also, I love images and hope to share some of my favorites. I saw some of yours and appreciate the many layers they show.
Cheers!
Hi Ed
Thanks. So glad I found this! I feel very lucky to be able to take what I've discovered over the years through my reading and research and be able to "package" it in a way for the general public that is more mainstream and less heady - esp for young girls. While I don't have kids, I feel like I get to be an aunt to girls around the world which is beyond gratifying.
