Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion How pervasive or recognizable is Depth Psychology?-- How (and how often) do you share?
"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Fun. As I understand it, the collect unconscious of humanity is drawn from the combined unconscious dynamics of humanity passed down from the earliest times. If experience is the key, then the alien experience would be alien (couldn't resist) to our…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Absolutely. Even Jung postulated that archetypal images could change and new images added after long periods of acceptance by humanity."

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

  • Thank you, Ed for your kind welcome.
  • Thanks Ed for the warm welcome.

Self has so many definitions - based on theorist, based on school, etc.  I'm sure using Self in the blogs will elicity a variety of comments and diversity of meaning!

  • Hi, Ed, thanks for the welcome.  Bahrain is part of the Arabic speaking world, and I generally find that people are not familiar with Jung's writings.  Many Freudian ideas are still circulating, mixed in with a lot of motley "self-help" and "new age" ideas.  Thanks for looking into my blog.  Are there any depth psychology degress I can do online?
  • Thanks Ed, I like how you put that the application of the depth degree is as wide as the personality of the people in the alliance lol  I will check out your information and thanks again!
  • Ed,

Thanks for the kind and personal welcome.  Christianity and I are taking kind of a hiatus right now, or rather, I'm taking a bit of a hiatus from Christianity.  My parents, my birthplace, and Christianity are all kind of bunched together in a group that's stuffed in the "I need to come back to this when I feel more sure of my footing without additional outside stressors" category.

Nevertheless, I appreciate your recommendation and will put it on my ever growing "to read" list.  Also, I have had a taste of more in depth looks at Christianity from Edward Edinger's Ego and Archetype, which I enjoyed, and my best friend (who introduced me to Jung) always brings his view on Christianity into our conversations - he's even thinking of seminary.

  • Would love to read and reflect on your thoughts. I just attended a lecture with Lionel Corbett, M.D. here in San Diego on the subject of "Jung in Dialogue with the Soul: Is Analytical Psychology a New Religion?". Has he been influential in your reading? Or perhaps you in his?!  It was enjoyable to hear about the connection of spirituality and psyche. He's an excellent and engaging speaker if you have the opportunity.
  • Hello Ed,

Pleasure to meet you. While I took a license through the family practice, my clients tend to be more burned out 35-55 somethings who have lost their connection to the Source. My work focuses on helping them find center and then draw from a more authentic place. Depth work is my spiritual home and I'm looking forward to exploring the site.

  • Thanks Ed.  Not sure how much I'll actually be on the site here, and absolutely about the relational emphasis in MFT practice extended to our other-than-human family, the ancestors, etc.  In some ways I think MFT are better positioned to bust out of the human-centric bubble than some expressions of psychology.   Bit by bit....
  • Hello Ed,

Thank you for your welcome. I am looking forward to exploring the site and wealth of information presented! I am glad Bonnie mentioned it to me.

    Best.
