Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion How pervasive or recognizable is Depth Psychology?-- How (and how often) do you share?
"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Fun. As I understand it, the collect unconscious of humanity is drawn from the combined unconscious dynamics of humanity passed down from the earliest times. If experience is the key, then the alien experience would be alien (couldn't resist) to our…"

  • Hi Ed,

Thank you for your kind words.
I am also very interested in Chinese methology.
And I firmly believe that depth psychology and Chinese mythology are essentially the same, because there is only one truth.
Taoism, Buddism, christian wisdom, etc. are only manifestations of such truth.

I am looking forward to learning a lot here.

  • Regarding 'The TRUTH; I have always been intrigued by the philosophical relativity of truth.  The world was flat at one point in time, just as many things we hold to be true right now will inevitably be proven incorrect..like what is occurring right now @ CERN regarding the speed of light and the laws of physics: http://www.marketwatch.com/story/spectacular-aspects-of-neutrinos-a...

As I wade through therapy and realize that my own mental defense mechanisms have been ardently working to keep me convinced that many truths from my past are not affecting me and arent even worthy of consideration.  Therein I find, yet again, interesting parallels between life and mind.

  • Thanks, Ed.  Glad to be here.  Very excited to have found this site :)

  • Thank you, Ed, for sharing a warm welcome and a vivid image.

My Facebook tagline reads "I'm a citizen of Planet Earth." My life is actually quite well-grounded in both Iowa and Arizona. But I do spend a lot of time in the air getting from one place to another.

When I read your comment, I thought of Dorothy on her way to Oz; and the persistent but erroneous legend that Mary's house from Nazareth was actually relocated in Walsingham, England.  A similar and equally incorrect legend persists about Salisbury House & Gardens in Des Moines.

It's interesting to reflect on what part of the collective psyche wants to believe that our homes can be transported "brick by brick" from their primal locations . . .

  • Hi Ed

Thanks for the welcome. I am still finding my feet and I would love to list my book somewhere, but still have to figure out how to do it.

    Kind regards

    Helene

  • Ed,

Thank you for your welcome.  I am grateful that Adele referred me to this site at the recent MTW conference.    I am finding much to dig into and relate to.  While I am new to Jungian study, it is deeply familiar and the more I learn, the more I realize my life journey has been a Jungian inspired one without even knowing it!  I look forward to soaking in the wise teachings from all who use this site.

    In gratitude for the journey,

    Ginger

  • LOL, silly me.  I did not realize you were referring to the Jung South on this site.  I'm new here.  I've found it and joined.  Thank you.
