Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious

  • Hi Ed!

Thank you very much for your comment! Somerset is wonderful, I'm a big fan of the cider! It would be great to get some more England based people on here - so I have invited my uni friends. We have just completed an MA in Jungian and Post-Jungian Studies from the University of Essex. I'm sure we'll have much to talk about!

Hope you are having a good day, the weather is beautiful in Bristol today.

  • Help!  Please delete all my prior comments, Ed.  There was a major computer snafu.  Thanks, Taylor

  • Sometimes I use the term 'shadow dialogues' 'voice dialogues' 'dialogues of the self to the Self' because we have so many who are not familiar with all the terms...I am looking forward to great dialogues with this group.  I am an avid supporter of journaling dreams as an 'in' to the unconscious and the wealth of inspiration they have to showing us our path....Thanks for the welcome.

  • Afternoon Ed - how did I receive such a message?  I paid for an in-depth astrology reading.  Not something I normally do but I was guided, so it happened and I found this site.  I think that was pretty cool.  Cheryl

  • dear ed koffenberger

i am from the east and too many people there rely too much on dreams, ofcourse, dreams are important.

  • Thank you so much for the welcome, Ed. I am slowly testing my way into the community, it will take time to orient myself and digest it all! But I am glad to be here and look forward to taking an active part in the discussion. - My best to you, Hallfridur

  • Souling. . . . I like that very much:) Can you say more about the "levels of revelation"? I can't help but think of evolution when I hear revelation, which makes me think of it as a concept of an evolution of consciousness.

I think that yes, a trans-species engagement that allows for a meeting between the two, a feeling of oneness like described when riding a horse in perfect unison, does have much to do with being on the same level, the same wavelength, or however you want to language it. As we know the language bit being very important.

I also think that it has a lot to do with a reconfiguration of the ego. When working or riding horses for instance, it is most pertinent that the ego moves aside for experiences of bodily connection, heart knowing, and deep intuition. The dualistic conceptions of soul/body become obsolete, and in the timeless unison of rider and horse, on this level of souling, the ego becomes the apprentice to a different way of being.

Through trans-species moments of communication and interaction where we do find ourselves on these levels of parallel experience that happen in a realm of in-betweenness, our perception, our consciousness begins a transformational shift towards a more involved way of being in the world.

I would love also to hear more about how you think or have experienced this sense of timelessness on certain levels of souling. The ability of engaging with horses to bring about this altered experience of time and space is very central to my work and it is one of the many things that keeps me coming back to the horses:)

Also, I posted on my page a link to a video that shows a perfect example of trans-species curiosity and meeting of worlds.

  •  Two of us plan to join the online club here so...we are reading that book!!!  We are also planning a retreat at the coast.  At times we all read the same book and then sometimes we read whatever we are into and then discuss those books with the group.

  • Oh geeze I could say so much more about trans-species psychology! It is my dissertation topic, so hopefully I have a few hundred words to say about it:)

In a nut shell. . . . my work centers around a deconstruction of depth psychology and in particular the idea of individuation, exposing our bias towards purely human ways of perceiving and being. Through the engagement of a trans-species relationship, in my case the horse-human relationship, it becomes possible to shift ego-centric consciousness, spreading the weight back into the body, the natural world, and non-human species, completely re-arranging perception towards a more eco-centric way of being.

  • Thank you for the warm welcome Ed.  Our group meets for lunch monthly in a restaurant which gives us a small room so we can share with one another privately.  Sometimes we discuss books.  Movies are the topic at times too.  Once we went on a weekend retreat.  That was great!!!!
