Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion How pervasive or recognizable is Depth Psychology?-- How (and how often) do you share?
"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Fun. As I understand it, the collect unconscious of humanity is drawn from the combined unconscious dynamics of humanity passed down from the earliest times. If experience is the key, then the alien experience would be alien (couldn't resist) to our…"

  • I also looked into getting my PhD in Psychology and focusing on Jungian Analysis.  I live near Philadelphia and there is a Jungian Society here.  I also looked online and found where I could get a degree in Transpersonal Psychology.  I'll be honest.  I don't know the difference between Transpersonal and Depth but hope, if there is, to find out. I know next to nothing about Alchemy and the Black Swan.  I guess that's another road to travel.  Thank you so much for taking the time to write.  I do appreciate it. I look forward to further insight and information.  I do admire your courage in pursuing your doctorate.
  • I have to say that what I've found most interesting is that it's been like a journey that started with an interest in Kabballah.  Along the way, each reading brought me to another place and another interest. Jung's writings seemed to bring it all together and give the information more credibility for me. Lately, I've been drawn to readings about Quantum Physics and Consciousness.  I find that I want to learn more and have become more and more curious.  It was interesting to read the article on the Black Swan because as I watched the film, it made me think about the acquisition of integration and accepting the negative aspects of ourselves. I thought at the time that I wanted to discuss this but, to be honest, no one I know is interested in those type of discussions.  I'm happy to be here. I have much to learn.
  • Thank you Ed for the welcome. I liked Living Gnosis-Tau Malachi, Modern Woman in Search of Soul-Singer, The Gnostic Jung-Stephen Hoeller. The Gnostic Gospels-Pagels.

I will definitely read your suggestions.

    Be well

  • BTW, I also LOVE Brene Brown!!!  I am going to Santa Fe in May to hear her and Dan Siegel speak.
  • Hi Ed,

Thanks for welcoming me.  I have a PsyD in clinical psychology and am a national speaker and expert witness in assessment and gifted.  I stumbled here accidentally *on purpose* ;).  I've been following Dan Siegel's work and became very CURIOUS when I learned he would be at Stan Grof's retreat in late September, early October.  I am just learning about altered states of consciousness and invite your direction.  I am reading Swami Muktananda's Play of Consciousness and Pema Chodron as introductions to mindfulness and meditation.  Looking forward to hearing from you, Lee-Anne

PS: I'm also trained in EMDR.

  • Thanks for welcoming me and for your comments on fiction as a portal to the depths.

    All the best, Phyllis LaPlante

  • Hi Ed.  Thanks for the warm welcome and kind comment about my web site.  I'm thrilled to meet other like-minded people here.  Jeanie
  • Thanks Ed.  I'm sure I will. My degree (BA) was in English Lit and Philosophy.  However I've held an interest in psychology since college and served 4 yrs as Pres. of the Minnesota Jung Assn., 4 yrs as Vice Pres, same for secretary, etc etc.  In other words, For 15 or 20 years I was very involved with that organization and am still a member, although rather inactive at present.
  •  Hello Ed!

I would love to hear more about the ways in which you bring Jungian concepts into marriage and family work as well. Right now I’m finishing my last semester at Naropa’s Transpersonal Counseling Psychology program and my internship ends this month as well. I say this only to illustrate that my experience in counseling has really just begun. My internship utilizes evidence-based practices and most therapeutic models they endorse are cognitive in nature. I’m working in-homes with families in crisis for short term interventions as well. I have been relying heavily on my mindfulness training as a way to work with both my agency’s agenda while still honoring my clients’ diverse needs-which also allows me to stay present in a more grounded way. Sometimes I believe that my transpersonal psychology education has really helped my awareness of not only the complexity of my clients but my own self as well. In this sense, I do not always feel I am integrating transpersonal psychology but embodying it in some ways. My internship has provided me with a wealth of experiences; however I do not have as many opportunities to work directly or with the transpersonal with families in crisis. Thank you for such a great question as I am sure I will always be mulling through this one!!!

Well I stumbled upon this DPA while at school- I'm in the clinical PhD program. I'm glad to have found the alliance.
