"Hi Tim! I feel much the same way as much of my art is about the psyche! I'm new to the field of Depth psychology but I'm excited because I think it might be the perfect intersection of beliefs. I log in to this site and am surprised to find there…"

  • Nairy,

I like your painting! It's very simple and direct. I like the way it binds the two worlds together, cross cutting up and down, in and out, thought and emotion. It reminds me that all of us are art experts as long as we have the two prerequisites: heart and brain. With that all is available to us that is in the artwork. Keep it up!

So, my isolation. I was pretty successful for a long time, having a manager that sold my work and getting some spectacular successes in different corners of the world. But over time my inspiration lead into places many people could not follow, leaving in the dust first the art "market", then the art world, then the public audience, then my own dedicated audience. Til now, when very few can even follow my trail, let alone being able to encapsulate my art discoveries in exhibitions or formal art media.

I have let go of the dreams of fame and influence and have retreated into a kind of monastic reverie, seeing to my devotions and trying to record my trail in case others take an interest. Few of my projects burst onto the public scene like Blue Bills, but you'll note that there is very little of that that looks like art too. In fact with the press I am trying to downplay the art aspect because art is always relegated to the "... and Entertainment" pages. I firmly believe (as I think Blue Bills proves!) that meaningful, moving art should appear on the front page. I could go on and on, but that is the story. Sorry I'm so windy.

In any case, thanks for sharing your work and I'd like to see more, as I'm sure others here would as well!

    Keep it up!

  • Nairy,

Thank you for your kind words! I am eager to hear what it is you do. Can you send me a link or anything about your art or what else enlivens you about this pursuit? I have been so isolated– not only from the formal art world but in many ways from the professional world (though not from friends and family) that I feel a sudden onrush of delight finding people of a similar passion as myself.

    I look forward to more!

    Tim

PS (send me your address and I'll send you a Blue Bill!)

  • Nairy,

I'm sorry, I called you by the wrong name. Failing eyesight...

  • Hello Nancy,

I'm fairly new here too so I'm still figuring out how to connect. And, being an artist, I am not plugged into any other depth psychology community other than reading Jung weekly with a small group for many years. My art is all about the psyche though, so I'm an outcast in the art world as well. For instance, my latest project (launched last weekend) is dying money blue as a way to transform the monetary system into a responsive expression of people's real values. (Bluebills.us).

I see you're in an Art and Psyche group. I think I'll join that. Glad to connect with you!

  • Welcome Nairy,

Glad you decided to join the MFT group. It has been somewhat inactive (would you believe a year?). I am in my own PhD program at Pacifica and tied down to my dissertation process except for the occasional blurbs I add to different groups. I am interested in hearing how you already see the connection of MFT paradigms and depth psychology. (???)

    Ed
