Ed Koffenberger left a comment on Jung in the South
"So...after a LONG time away, I resurface and wonder who is still out there, esp. in the Carolinas and Virginia? Frankly, I took too great a chunk of real estate in my exuberance with the beginning of the DPA. Now hoping there are some still…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion How pervasive or recognizable is Depth Psychology?-- How (and how often) do you share?
"The actual phrase "depth psychology" about three times. The concepts and perceptions related to and introduced by depth psychology, most likely, 10+ times a week. Normally with people interested in dreams, synchronicity, religion, and philosophy.…"

Ed Koffenberger replied to Gerard Scott's discussion The collective unconscious
"Fun. As I understand it, the collect unconscious of humanity is drawn from the combined unconscious dynamics of humanity passed down from the earliest times. If experience is the key, then the alien experience would be alien (couldn't resist) to our…"

  • Ed,

When my marriage collapsed seven years ago, I made a choice between attending the Graduate Theological Union in Berkeley, or Pacifica. I decided on the former, and I wonder sometimes if I made the right choice. I will attend Pacifica at some point - if only to study with Robert Romanyshyn. I read his book: "Ways of the Heart: Essays Toward An Imaginal Psychology" and was enthralled.

Rumi is part of my past, and Rilke became more or less an "urgent" study after the dissolution of my marriage; I needed to "ripen" into a space where I could really absorb Rilke. His "Elegies" are my focus right now.

  • Dear Ed -

Thank you for your greeting. Actually, I live in northern California, about ten miles north of Berkeley. I do look forward to exploring this site; currently, my particular focus is in the connections between Rilke's poetry and depth psychology. I have read some of James Hollis' comments on Rilke in his book "The Archetypal Imagination," and I hope there may be other members of this site that share this interest. Where are you located? I look forward to future dialogues with you.

    Best Regards,

    Mark
  • I just looked at your linked in profile...and have a few thoughts...first, no I can hardly believe they won;t give you time off! What nerve for sure! 2nd: my profession has been as a PA in peds and a friend and I recently published and article Anxiety in Adolescence that you might find interesting..I will send you the PDF if there is a way to do that..also, my project is focusing on the mythic and epic nature of the stories told by people living at the end of life...and linking those experiences with the physiology that underlies the time of dying ....my argument is that the stories are necessarily unique because they emerge from a body that is living in a physiologically unique place. So, interesting that our work seems to overlap...at least a little bit. Best ,Carol
  • LOL! It has been an amazing 2 yr intensive journey to be sure...and as it gets closer, I will try to remember to let you know when the defense is scheduled! Dennis is my advisor and I have to work around his schedule a bit. Additionally, my husband and our 3 sons will be traveling out there to be at the defense..so the scheduling might be a bit tricky! For now ,I am marveling at being so close to completion. Signing off for now, and wishing you all the best in your project...what is your topic?
  • Very!!!!!!! Completed the solid draft just in time for the solstice, and the lunar eclipse! Couldn't be more perfect!
  • Hi Ed, No, I am in the northeast..I am currently completing my dissertation in myth studies at Pacifica and am definitely interested in dream work. Thanks, Carol
  • Oh OK!  I'll look for it. I love good against evil with a female warrior woman. Image candy.

  • No, I'm not familiar with Electra.

  • Thanks for the welcome, Ed.  I am not in the South--but I am in Southern California.  I look forward exploring the site--it was a great find through the Asheville Jung Center.

  • Xena is one of my favorite female archetypes! Glad you like the pic.
