Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Craig Chalquist, PhD's discussion What is depth? in Alliance Admin Board
"Just a brief response...not polished: For me depth refers to the initial use of the word, at least in our field, to refer to Freud's psychology of depth (i.e. unconscious dimensions). Also, it applies, at least in my mind, to Jung's amplification of…"

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"Wonderfully said, James! Yes, and I hope I pointed out that it wasn't across the board -- that itself would be a fundamentalist statement haha -- and that it doesn't only apply to the Jungians. I agree with what you're saying and especially…"

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"Thanks James. It's struck me that a lot of Jungian psychology -- and it's certainly not limited to Jungian psychology -- tends to just do the 'first half of life' stuff over and over again, basically failing to mature past it. A word for doing the…"

Dr Brent Potter, PhD, PhD replied to Bonnie Bright's discussion Topics and Process for Discussion at Saturday's Webinar Panel in Alliance Admin Board
"My vote is for depth psychology "on the streets" or in action...presently and moving into the future.
Also, I have an ongoing curiosity -- somewhat related -- on what it'd look like if Jungian psychology itself moved into the second half of life…"

"In no particular order:
Estes,
Bosnak,
Corbett,
Tarnas,

Side note: Roughly a year ago I was in dialogue with Moore concerning conference speaking and he's expensive. Also, I think it's wise to get speakers from the area. "

  • Welcome to the Alliance Brent!  I'm in the new Depth Psy Jungian/Archetype program at Pacifica right now.  How is clinical in Seattle?
  • okay, so my previous post was at 2am and I didn't say much, so now I will chat a bit.  I am loving the myth program and had planned on beginning it for 8 years... (I am persistent...)  I finally got there, and yes, I am savoring it, every moment.  It is magical and I feel like this amazing process is going on and I am 100% present to it and THAT is exciting.

I completed my undergrad in studio art and art history, then did an MFA at John F Kennedy in studio Arts and Consciousness Studies.

I have NO IDEA where the Pacifica program will take me, but it doesn't seem to matter right now.

How long ago were you at Pacifica? Are you practicing as a therapist? what is your focus, or way of practicing?

I love being an agent of change, don't you?  Blessings!

  • I love the fact that you typed "angel."

I'm guessing there is a copy in the Pacifica library...I'll look it up this next week.

  • hey!I am at Pacifica now in the mythological studies! Love the program! chat soon...
  • BY self-destruction are you speaking metaphorically or literally or both?
  • a far friend ..living and working as a Jungian therapist and trainer in Amsterdam.

    Regards,

  • Hi Brent,

To reply to your question, it is an Engaged Humanities degree with an Emphasis in InDepth Psychology. Some of the courses have been music and metaphysics, Jung and film, etc. Just applying InDepth Psychology and mythology to film, art, music etc. I really enjoy the material and the assigned and suggested reading. Will have a ton of reading even after graduation because the entire curriculum is fascinating. How's your practice going for you?

    Bree
