"What a lovely interview, Bonnie. I was very interested to learn about this important conference that I'd known nothing about, but I was also reminded of the simple steps that we can all take to reconnect to the natural world. Jeff's comment that we…"

Dorene Mahoney replied to Christopher Chayban's discussion Symbols and Intuition in Using Jung's Typology Discussion Group
"No. Extraverted intuition is about real world possibilities.
Relative to your 2nd question, it could be that you've got both introverted intuition and extraverted intuition operating in parallel ways. However, the statement, "that person is like a…"

Dorene Mahoney replied to Christopher Chayban's discussion Distortion of Type in Using Jung's Typology Discussion Group
"Shyrl and I have talked about your questions.

First of all, to the extent one's Whole Type Code is distorted through various life experiences, it makes it hard to see their Code accurately.

Individuation is always aiming at increased authenticity.…"

Keep in mind that the spines are about balance and…"

Dorene Mahoney replied to Christopher Chayban's discussion Function Attitude-Auxillary Pairs in Using Jung's Typology Discussion Group

Dorene Mahoney replied to Christopher Chayban's discussion Inquiry into the 2 Attitudes. Active and Passive Introversion/Extraversion. in Using Jung's Typology Discussion Group
"Chris:
Jung's writing is pretty dense. I've added some of my words around subject and object, active and passive, hoping it makes the passages a little easier to understand:
34. Introversion
means a turning inwards of the [life force / attention /…"

  • Thanks for the welcome Dorene. I'm a bit slow getting in gear here. But I do plan to participate. It feels like a friendly and exciting community.
  • Thanks Dorene. I'm looking forward to this new way of communicating and working with dreams. I teach a course in college "Psychology of Consciousness" and, since we incubate dreams for one student each week and students keep dream logs, wondering where you suggest they might like to participate here? Or how? All suggestions welcome.
  • I can't say I'm a fan but his thoughts do interest me in that he questions Jungian approaches. My guess about the active imagination piece is that any "method" that takes away from the initial experience only weakens the "message" of the original experience. He seems to want us to stay with the experience in its original form in order to get a truer "read" of it. But that's just my own interp.
  • Hi Dorene, I've been out of touch this week, but just read your last comment and -I couldn't agree more with what you said! I know about becoming a totally different person after Jungian work! It's remarkable what happens! I, too, am too old to get up the energy and dollars for another degree. It's been tough getting a practice going in these times! Yes, I have taken a workshop with Virginia Beanne Rutter, and one with Peter(?) Rutter. I went to Meridith's wonderful place in Berkeley for a workshop with John Beebe one of my all-time favorite analysts!  I so enjoyed that journey. My analyst was in Mill Valley and then Petaluma until he retired. Those days were an incredible gift! It's hard to describe but knowing the difference in oneself is the proof. Really interested in learning about Dream Tending, and meeting up when we can. Ruth
  • Thanks, Dorene! I'll make a point to engage in the conversation! Jeanne
  • Excellent! I'll check them out! Thank you, Brent
  • I would most certainly be interested. Let me know details please. Thank you, Brent
  • Hi Dorene, It would be fabulous to do a PsyD there.   My background comes from years of analysis and programs at SF Jung Institute. Your collages are wonderful!  Maybe we'll have a chance to meet and talk sometime!  Are you commuting to Pacifica on weekends?  My thanks for starting this group!
